11:26am: Mithril awards, anyone?
Surely someone will be not bored by this. marigoldg gives us the inside scoop on the wretched festering pit of festeringness that is the Mithril Awards. Except that she's a very polite person and would never put it like that.

Note: No, I don't think the OP is being particularly wanky beyond taking her fandom very seriously. I'm more interested in how the Mithril award people will respond. They seem to be uber-defensive (if we can go by what marigold is saying).

For instance, some anon friend of the Mithrils might come to fandom_wank and say The wank! My eyes! regarding marigold's post. *waves to anons*

[ETA #2: Marigold gets kicked out of the Mithril Yahoo group. She calls for a boycott of sorts: I know it is petty, but it would be nice to see a long opt out list of people who don't want to play - it bothers me that they have this attitude that they are better than everyone else, because they certainly aren't, and we didn't ask for them to declare themselves to be over us. : )

Backstory: Over on the Queer Eye For the Straight Guy LJ community, easternbird posts some promotional photos obtained (apparently from Google) from Hollandse Hoogte, a professional media site. That particular post has been deleted. The maintainer of the site finds out and demands she remove the photos, threatening legal action. easternbird complies. Wouldn't you? A day or two later, saavira posts detagged versions of the promotional photos obtained from an earlier post in the community. This post is friends-locked.

Enter the sockpuppet.
