12:17am: U MAKE AMERICAN IDOL SUX0R!!!!1!1!2!
Dubya's speech pre-empted American Idol last night, so in the interim, of course, there was wank. Oh, was there ever wank.

You see, [info]fragilefriend really really hates 16 year old John Stevens, one of the eight finalists left in the competition as of tonight. She hates him so much that she honestly can't understand why everyone else doesn't share the hate. Witness:

"I still think John Stevens is A) Creepy looking. B) Too f**king pale. C) The worst singer I have ever heard or seen. How can you EVEN ARGUE that this guy is better compared to the other contestants this season IN TERMS OF TALENT?!? ... You are a stupid liar if you say he has a fantastic voice."

Nobody takes her flamebait though, so she decides to flame anyone who responds instead.

"It's all your fault this season sucks so much!"

"If you disagree with this post or attempt to argue... its just obvious that you have a sissy crush on some no talent 16 year old red head."

And my favorite: "You're just offended because I've shown you that you have NO TASTE!"

*cringecringecringe*

As if that weren't bad enough, she then later posts a retraction. Sort of:

OK. John Stevens fans are actually NOT all tasteless and retarded. My bad! Also I take back the creepy overlypale comments, too - he just reminds me of a mean exboyfriend :'( But he still sucks a lot.

The crack pipe, it is time to put it down, sistah!
11:28am: The Humblest Man on the Net
One of my favourite usenet posters is John S Novak III, and his main realm of operations is in the Robert Jordan newsgroup. Although the group has been on the slow decline for a couple of years now, he is but one of a group of dedicated posters who have been around since the early 1990s.

It's a very acrimonious place. Recently, one of the older posters (Maggie) asked a question about the West Wing: specifically, when did it start to suck. Richard G. Rius gives her a fairly reasonable answer, pointing to the final episode of last season ("Commencement") and explaining a little bit about why things have been less interesting since.

Maggie's response (a few posts down)? Spoliers. SUCK. You. Mouthbreathing. Fuckwit. [SIC]

Several people come to her defense, because hell, she's a "name" on the group. However, Novak is also a "name" and he calls her on her bullshit, in several deliciously acerbic posts.

Examples:

This is actually bullshit. Spoiler protection, I'm sorry to say, is
not the norm. You can only expect spoiler protection in a few pretty
narrow circumstances.

You can expect it in an on-topic newsgroup, if the prevailing norms so
dictate, because it's a good way to enlarge the readership. But even
then, the protection only holds for a short period of time. You can
expect it, in common conversation, for a pretty short period after
something (a TV episode or a movie, say) airs, but not much farther.

Past that point, insisting or expecting spoiler protection makes *you*
the arrogant asshole, since the assumption is that everyone has to
watch out for your virgin ears. Just not going to happen.

Or, to be brief: Frodo lives. Caesar dies. Christ does both.
Get over it.

And, excerpted from a direct reply to Maggie Herself:

If you actually think people are going to go to that much effort to
protect you from common knowledge, you are going to lead an angry,
bitter little life, spent with many interludes of shrieking.

1:49pm: Harry Potter wank
First time wank. Coming from the Sirius/Remus part of the Harry Potter fandom.

Last year, Moony started the Sirius/Remus FQF. It was a success, needless to say.

The active SBRL Yahoo Group started to get a little too active with regards to newbies for many people's tastes, Moony's included. She flamed the list before leaving it:

"I too have had my fill of 'Remy' and 'Siri' and leather trousers and 'mating for life,' and whatever the hell else fandom cliche you lot find entertaining. I'm heading off to the white shores of LiveJournal, because your two best authors just did, and I am not stupid enough to stick around here without them to keep me sane.

Cheerio."

Thescarletwoman decided to start a new Sirius/Remus FQF after the archive for the first one disappeared.

Shortly after, Moony finally decides to start the second wave of the Sirius/Remus FQF (which is entirely devoted to Bring Black Back and sounds a lot like the Bring Black Back challenge there was a while back and the Veil of Possibilities challenge from October, not to mention the fact that only two people can sign up per challenge and there are sixteen challenges with a fan base of probably over five hundred people) and promotes it to the SBRL list that she flamed. The members of the list were not happy (anything preceded by ">" is Moony): Read more... )
2:49pm: I'm... not even sure what's going on here.
More Inuyasha Wank.

It all starts when kikyounosorrow makes a post in kikyou_lovers, announcing that the Spring Special will feature Kikyou and Inuyasha's past relationship.

cowgirled takes issue with mentioning that it's an Inu/Kik episode. kikyounosorrow takes issue with being reprimanded. It sorta goes downhill from there.

Highlights: The mod steps in, cowgirled gets snippy, past history makes an appearance, and the Anime vs. Manga debate struts its stuff.
Current Mood: energetic
4:20pm: This is how international incidents gets started......
More wank from the the Tribe fandom.....

Somehow a thread of a fan complaining about how the Germans get all the good merchandise while the english speaking fans gets ignored, gets turned into a political mudslinging event, bringing up Nazi's, Bush, and England as America's lapdog.

Not the first time the German fans have gone head-to-head with the english speaking fans.....and if history repeats itself, this could get ugly....and amusing at the same time as each side defends its nation.

A small sample of the events:
John Connor II says: Cloud 9 must think that that the Nazi's won World War II because all of the tribe books are in German. News Flash! They Lost!!!

SnM responds with: are you SICK?
were are you from, england? england i forgot, the country with bushs lapdog in charge.

I WOULD like to clarify, that on MANY occasions Cloud 9 has told the fans that if they want to see the books and other merchandise in their country, that they need to let distributors and publishers in their own countries know that they want this stuff.
Current Mood: Mildly Amused
6:52pm: VadaWank
First post, be gentle. Oh hell, don't bother.

The spooge debate is on at tF.n: Will Hayden's Voice Be DEEP Enough In Episode III???

Mirth ensues )
