1:11pm: HP Arrogance
First post, but IMO this is wanky for the sheer arrogance. In summary, FA head honcho, Heidi squees over her site being nominated for a Webby. While recognizing FA probably won't win she adds the following:

Of course, we're up against LiveJournal and Friendster, but as I just wrote in an email to bradfitz, if FictionAlley, for some bizarre reason, actually wins, it's a victory for LJ as well, because LJ really is a part of FA's community - hence, things like fiction_alley!

Yeah, so every single LJer is a FA member. Not to mention that LJ is where most of the wank can be found.

5:00pm: New comm announcement
Hi! I added some stuff to The One Wank store, and I'm going to be adding more, like the stickers that were requested. (And sorry, folks, but they don't seem to sell any clothes in black. There's white, gray, green, yellow and pink.)

I wanted everyone to know what's going on, but I don't want to keep spamming FW every time I update. And! Then it occurred to me that we could probably use another comm for that... anything FW related that isn't an actual wankery post could go somewhere else. Where, you ask?

I love PopDirt, which is like a pop music news site with all the best gossip. Occasionally, too, you stumble upon quite the flammable little ho-down. And I do mean that literally.

In this instance, The Backstreet Boys' AJ McLean has told a radio station that their upcoming album will cover "Don't Disturb This Groove" by The System. The comments start out nicely enough, saying "Cool!" and "I love that song!" But then an Eminem fan, whose actual complete user name is, I kid you all not, Shadys_Lady (Eminem Is My Tony Montana @ Teenyboppers deserve to be shot), has to rain on everyone's parade by posting:

Are the backstreet boys still pretending to make music? I thought their fan base left them when they turned 5.

And then I'm afraid it got REALLY ugly. Cut and past here for your pointing-and-laughing convenience.

( You hate the Backstreet Boys for being teenie and mainstream but worship Eminem for keeping it real? The fuck? )

( Hey, Eminem worked HARD to make that many black friends! )
