11:30am: D&D Geeks... Will They Ever Learn?
I was involved in this, but not enough to justify posting to i_wank. And I would consider D&D a fandom.

Meet Roleplayers the LJ community for... you guessed it, roleplayers. It's a good place to talk about your pen-and-paper games.

Meet D'Nabre, a D&D player. He owns The Book of Vile Darkness a D&D supplement devoted to all of the nasty, creepy, icky evil things. He has a question about spell components. D&D rules say if a cost wasn't listed for a spell component, it can be assumed to be part of a wizard/sorcerer's standard spell component pouch. Well, some of the components from BovD are... questionable. Like the one he was asking about, the heart of an elven child.

I believe this quote from bloodangel sums up the reaction (and the wank): "Better yet, you could ignore the steaming pile of feces that is the Book of Vile Darkness and create three-dimensional campaign villains with personalities and aspirations beyond being as evil and offensive as possible."

The nature of evil D&D PCs and moral ambiguity in a universe where you wear your alignment on your metaphysical sleeve figures heavily. Much insult-hurling happens between those who like evil PCs sometimes and those who cannot stand the fact that some people run around being the bad guys. Very few people remember the original question.

So how much does an elven child's heart cost? Well, the OP asked on Wizards' Official forum and got steered to a table that said one silver piece.

5:02pm: When your grammar is in doubt, blame elitism (yet again)
At fanfic symposium, Cynical Otter rambles about "Flogging Elitism in the Fanfiction World".

A shortened version:

ETA (again): FYI -- According to the GAFF thread (see link above), Cynical Otter and PM Flores (from this wank) are the same person.

7:42pm: It's a teeny one-person wank!
This one actually started a while ago, but a new round is threatening to bring on the splooge.

Over on the Plan C message board (which is teeny in the first place, hence the wank being teeny), AmbersSecretAdmirer is OMG SO MAD over ticket prices to a UK convention taking place over Halloween weekend, with James Marsters and David Boreanaz as headliners. Among the choice epithets she uses are "reprehensible" and "obscene."

And then she breaks out the CAPS LOCK KEY OF RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION and the multiple exclamation points of protest to demand that fans boycott the convention to demonstrate to those greedy con organizers that fans deserve more respect.

Cue a brief, exclamation-point filled exchange dealing with currency conversion rates and what constitutes reasonable con pricing, and no small amount of snark from Forksmoker.

I admit I put a couple of toes in (I'm Shaniezak), but I don't know if it justifies moving this to i_wank as I tried not to get too hostile.  I'll move it if people think I should.

Cut to today's new posts, and ASA's latest bit of fan-rebellion rhetoric:

Forksmoker's already responded, and has gone at it with ASA in a few other threads as well.  There is potential for more splooge than the few brief creamy spurts seen so far.
