6:03am: Mommy, where do lust threads come from?
So recently there's been this spate of lust threads going around. They consist of mostly anonymous comments running along the lines of, "I'd tap that ass!"

[info]jennyo ponders this phenomenon. Why is it there? Perhaps it's because m/m slashers think about sex too much, or that LiveJournal has a pseudosexual culture, or maybe, according to [info]glossing, it's just the offensive, demeaning play of the overprivileged who are trying to prove how OMG SUBVERSIVE (TM [info]twinkledru) they are. It's got to be one of those things, right?

7:17pm: Those who can, write. Those who can't, mock others?
It's my first wank. I've been told it gets easier the more you do it, so…

I'd like to direct your attention to The Inkslingers, a group that prides itself on being a "community for writers who are desperate to interact with other skilled, serious writers. Bad goth poetry, insipid rhyming poems, fanfic, and atrocious prose are not welcome here!"

They invite people to apply to become a member of the community by having them submit three pieces of writing, be it poetry or prose. Those who've already been voted in get to decide if the applicant can join or not. That in itself doesn't seem too bad, except that they don't seem to
accept anyone, despite some of the entrants being pretty decent authors.

And as you can see, some of the applicants are pissed when they don't get in. Maybe if they'd look at the userinfo for the people helping run the community, and they wouldn't be bitching so much about not getting in. Communities that suck as bad as this one make Jesus weep.
