I don't know what it is, but lately the house_md community over on LJ has become a hotbed of idiocy and wank.

Today-- well, yesterday, now-- bardvahalla felt the need to post this screed:

I don't know what's wankier-- the dictatorial tone, the overwhelming sense of superiority, or the fact that she's disabled comments.

Alas, this latter fact means it's not likely to grow. So I suggest we all simply enjoy it for what it is: a tiny, perfect microcosm of wank.

9:08am: Soap Opera Abortion wank
On a tip from an anonymouse in a previous post.

The OP seems reasonable enough and for once, people are complaining that abortion is being portrayed negatively, instead of the other way around.

Given the fact that it involves soap opera fans and abortion, it starts off relatively tame, with posters wondering if the show is becoming a Bush propoganda machine.

And then violetmaiden shows up and decides that it's her moral duty to educate the sinners, especially posters who admit they've had abortions themselves.

10:33am: House wank #5, because humanity is overrated
yes, the fifth fandom wank so far. have we set some kind of record? in a show that's so snarky, the biting sarcasm leaks into the fans. so in this short but sweet wank, there's AUs, plagiarism, and even sockpuppets! best of all, we have SCREENCAPS.

It's not just the house_md community that's full of wank in the House fandom. There was a wank explosion over at housefic. Unfortunately, the original post has been deleted, but due to stellabymoor and acrimonius's efforts, the wankage has been archived for our enjoyment.

kidhighwind decides to post an AU crossover fic whose premise is not entirely original. If lifting the plot from X Day wasn't enough, lifting an entire scene from the Escaflowne movie was, according to the simple, if snarky reply made by acrimonius. diagnose_this chimes in with a link to the Fandom Glossary's definition of "High School AU". Both posts get replied to and subsequently deleted.

stellabymoor and aureliapriscus jump to acrimonius' defense when kidhighwind gloats in public about deleting the "flamers" replies. Take note of this screenie for kidhighwind's particular brand of omg replying???!!!

aureliapriscus makes a valiant effort at diplomacy, but kidhighwind whines a lot and goes "PITY ME!", causing acrimonius to get angry and actually flame kidhighwind outright. All can be found here.

The fun almost began here, where kidhighwind flips out a little more and decries all of her accusers as flamers, and she'sleavingtehcommyuunity4evar!!1 But! Woe and alas, it was not to be -- shortly after that was archived, kidhighwind made good on her promise and actually figured out how to delete her community post. Oh noes.

7:01pm: Yay, plagiarism wank!
So, Kantayra is a prolific BTVS/Angel writer.

She writes Spuffy and Spillyria (thanks, marlo) smutfic. Dirty, dirty, smutfic.

She's just learned that she was plagiarized. (Her fic, the scene that was stolen. NWS.) darlawinifred was the "author" in question.

Kantayra posted about this on her journal, just an FYI for other authors, and to vent.

She gets the usual comments of support, and then someone mentions that another of darla's fics appears to be stolen. Cue darla's friend, spikesbabyblues. Did you guys know stealing is okay if you admit it upfront?

Every plagiarist has an excuse. Darla's is I didn't steal it because I didn't write it! Okay then.

Apparently she commissions people to write sex scenes for her, which she then plugs into her stories. But in this instance, she doesn't remember who "wrote" it.

Also, she needs sex scenes in her fics otherwise people won't read them and then she won't get feedback and accolades for fic she didn't write! ...my head hurts.

Darla gets completely defensive and rather batshit here. She's the one who was screwed over. She wants her name cleared. The other accuser did her wrong because they didn't read the A/Ns first.

Kantayra has frozen the wankiest of the threads. But it's still a good read.

Oy. Their spelling...It burns.


UPDATE: Darla told Kantayra in IM that it was her sister who gave her the scene. You know, that person that she couldn't remember. *cough*

Kantayra gave her sister a chance to 'fess up, which "she" did. (Also? Ew.)

Darla and her sister/sockpuppet seem to share a connection, one knowing when the other had just sent Kantayra an e-mail.

Even more amazing, since supposedly they live in separate time zones.

Kantayra, not having been born yesterday, used the "time to face the music" post as an IP traceback.

Believe it or not, ya'll, the "sister" does not exist.

Oh, my faith in humanity, she is shaken.


Also, there's a discussion at the archive site where the screencaps came from here. I'm only about a third of the way through, no sign of the sister yet, though Darla insists over and over that the "enitre" fic is hers. *sigh* Thanks to slackerbitch for the link. (Look, ma, I'm crediting!)
