1:53pm: Thrill as The Libertines fandom self-destructs! *insert Pete joke here*
As always,
albion_fic brings the wank.
Someone changed the userinfo a couple days ago to a very... distasteful drawing of Pete naked complete with a syringe in his arm. Most people are disgusted, but there are a few who disagree.
It's just got started and I don't think it's going to stop for a while. Get your wellies on kids!Edit: Apparently someone took the offending image down. Good thing I saved it.
Edit #2: I LEFT LIVEJOURNAL BUT YOU GUYS DRUG ME BACK IN COS U R SELFISH ZOMG I HATE YOU!!!!
9:26pm: the wicked wank of the west.
Earlier today, a
post was made to the Wicked icons community,
defying__icons. The person posting them is an obvious (to me, at least) troll, lots of exclamation points, and the icons are really poorly made. I personally think they're really funny, because... well, Wicked fans make some crappy icons. As the moderator of the community, I decide to leave the post up, against my better judgement. When I do this, there aren't that many comments, and most of them just really think it's pretty funny. At one point, someone calls the poster
retarded, and there's a small scuffle over that, but nothing major.
Four hours later...
Someone suggest that it's an early April Fool's joke, there's another mention of
mental retardation, and people are starting to get pissed.
Not to mention, the same person makes another
post, this time including an icon that implies fat girls can't be popular.
OH SNAPS.
People get
very offended and
yell at
each other. At one point, two people have a personal conversation in the comments, and it's confusing because they're both using the same icon.
I wasn't sure if this should go in i_wank or not, because I am the mod, but I haven't really stepped in at all, except to tell a few people to fucking chill. I'm not really doing any of the wanking though, at least I don't think I am. I kind of just want to see how this plays out.
Current Mood: I hate this fandom.
9:50pm: "Tim Schafer killed the adventure genre with his harsh words!"
What do adventure gamers do when bored? Wank, apparently.
A little requisite backstory: Once upon a time, there was a man named Tim Schafer, who worked at LucasArts. He wrote and project-led such fabulous adventure games as Grim Fandango and Full Throttle, and the fanboys, who rather liked these games, went about declaring Tim to be a god among men. Well, not long after Grim Fandango's release, Tim left LucasArts to found DoubleFine, and has been at work on his latest game (a platformer), Psychonauts, ever since. Now that said game is about to be released and the gaming media is salivating all over it, interviews with Tim have been popping up like rabid bunnies.
In one of the more recent interviews in
Computer Games Magazine, the interviewer apparently served Tim a curveball by asking him what he thought "killed adventure games." The response? Graphics.
...And lo, were the hackles of every adventure game "purist" and fanboy raised, because--OH NOES--
God Tim said something not everyone might agree with!
( And so does the wanking and endless dissecting of Tim's comments begin. )Now all we need is a Sluganski vs. Schafer caged death match, with commentary from adventure gamers the world over as to exactly what they meant, exactly, in a blow-by-blow analysis!
