9:08am: Ah. Yet more hogwarts_elite sorting wank. It doesn't really get fun until the last couple of pages, though.

This time, meet [info]lucidus_charm, a young girl who gets accused of "pushing" for Gryffindor, and yet most seem to be sorting her there anyway because they think she's funny or fits in or something. A couple squib her. Then...votes get deleted. All squib votes.

Of course, later she states that she's going to be a Gryffindor anyway so deleting a few squibs wouldn't affect the votes, and blames LJ for deleting comments

Some highlights:
Slytherins r meen!!!1!
Peer Pressure OMG!
Bitches.

Edit: Comments have now been screened on the post in question, but I'm working on saving screenshots. And now they've been unscreened again. I'll leave the link for the caps just in case they go away again, but it's better in all their glory. What I managed to cap before the comments were screened. (Saved on a work computer using paint. That was hell.)
12:15pm: Carnvàle is one of HBO's best shows at the moment. The season just ended and the 2+ million viewers are ready for another season already. So HBO would go ahead and do that, right?

Wrong!

Or at least that's what the New York Sun thinks. And what're fans to do, since HBO won't confirm or deny rumors (even though Daniel Knauf, the show's creator/writer, says they won't know anything until June)

But wait! goo91 disagrees, because they have a friend in HBO postproduction that told them the show was renewed!!11

There is much bickering about Arliss being crap and running for seven seasons thanks to the fact that it's cheap to make! Don't you know Carnivàle is too exspensive to make???//

And then parena steps up and says... dun-da-dun.. "CARNIVALE has DEFINITELY NOT BEEN RENEWED FOR NEXT YEAR AND WILL NOT." - this according to her friend who is a Managing Director, and you shouldn't believe someone just randomly saying things because their friend said things. No no, parena is legit, the real deal, 100%. And refuses to reveal her friend's name. Riiiight.

MrHowelett makes me laugh the most - I cant wait until you 'Cancellation' people are all horribly wrong. if its cancelled & im wrong
i hope youre all happy that a priceless piece of visual history is gone

chibilute sums things up the best: people get really worked up about "cancelled" news, but seem to disregard news saying that it's staying.

Canceled, okayed, either way Carnivàle fans have two months before we'll really know and it seems like they intend on wanking the entire time.

As requested by an anonymouse:

AnimeFringe puts up this review of Fullmetal Alchemist. Needless to say, the review is not exactly flattering, and is often brutally honest in pointing out the flaws in the series.

And, as if on cue,
the FMA community on LJ explodes with wank.

It's happened before, and it'll happen again. Because this is FMA! >3

8:35pm: GRRM wank! I don't know why I find it so easily!
Maybe because I hang out on RPG boards, and RPG boards call wank. (Note to self: Suggest that as [info]jurisimprudence law)

Background: Guardians of Order get rights to turn George R. R. Martin's a Song of Ice and Fire series into an RPG> They planned to put out a Special Limited Edition in Spring 2005 and the regular editions in Summer 2005. The Limited Edition would be signed by GRRM himself, and have all sorts of nice features (A GM screen, pull out map, nicer bindings, and the contents of two books in one). It also was to cost $100 plus shipping.

So, anyway, GoO has financial problems (mostly having to do with the fact expensises are in Canadian dollars and income is mostly coming in as US dollars -- the weakened US dollar is bad here). They announce that the book will come out in early summer 2005, with the regular edition coming out maybe a month or two later.

Meet Ecliptic. You may remember him from the last GRRM wank I posted last fall, in which he angsted about how the fact that GRRM was an OMGEvolLiberal! would color his view on the series. Apparently it wasn't that serious, as he put down money for the Limited Edition. And the delays have him upset -- he speaks about canceling his order in several of the boards' threads.

He does it yet again here. And a few posters get sick of it, and tell him to fish or cut bait -- either cancel his order and or shut up. People come down on either side of the issue, economics is discussed, entitlement 'We should get something more for waiting for months' posts are made and the actual company members are remarkably sane and patient.
10:57pm: Harry Potter Anti-Porn Mini Wank
This one definately has potential.

Karthur at livejournal posts about a letter written by an angry parent to Warner Brothers that was posted on Planetfeedback

Here's the "letter" where the author asks Warner Brothers to shut down a HP fanfic site called Fiction Alley

Only four responses so far on Planetfeedback, but I guess that's because each account has to be validated.

Lesson in life: Don't use the internet as a babysitter.
