3:00am: Sin City wank
Hi! New here! First post, please use the easy-release knots and the numbing cream.
OK, so
Sin City is out and there's all kinds of opinions being flung back and forth about it. Especially over at
feministfilm on LJ, where
someone doesn't like it at all. Then several other someones disagree with the first someone. Then someone gets banned. Then the term "feminazi" gets tossed around. Then more banning occurs.
Bring armor and courage, is all I'm sayin'. Good times.
12:46pm: Rebecca Romijn Rapefic Romp
Oh, Teh Furry... I do love you, and you do fuel many a fantasy of mine, but the concept of a real-world actress being gangraped by lizardmen is, alas, not one of them. Well, someone decided that
such a story needed to be!
What's even worse is that said story is intended as a
tribute to the actress in question, Rebecca Romijn (of
X-Men movie fame). Now, take the story, put it in the hands of an author who doesn't speak English as a first language, give it a beta reader that apparently doesn't care about grammar or spelling, wheel it out the door for all to see, and let the sparks fly!
I
posted the story itself to
fanficrants, because--let's face it--it deserves every bit of mockery-mocking that it gets. A number of people went over to leave reviews directly on the story (which is hosted on
Yiffstar, a Furry smut archive).
Surprisingly,
most of the reviews, while panning the story for all its abhorence, are well thought out and not unreasonable a response for the story in question. However, the original writer comes back and cries, reporting the 'incident' to the site moderator because people dared to tell him that the grammar and syntax of his real-person rapefic was bad.
Choice snippets:
Being an editor means POINTING OUT ERRORS!-
You'll pardon my language, but if he didn't care enough about his own damn story to keep it from looking like shit, and you didn't care enough to proof blatant errors like "the lizard women of his city enjoyed a lot with him, surely the humans will enjoy too," then you both deserve what you get. Suggesting that it's acceptable to post this in its current state borders on the insulting. -
Obviously someone doesn't type their stories up in Word. Or they just ignore the pretty little green and red lines.-
I skimmed over the beginning, and my eyes began to bleed. But I kept going, because I like PAIN. Also, I didn't have a rusty spoon handy with which to gouge my eyes out. ... The words "Bwuh?" "NO! GOD, NO!" and "..." come to mind. There is nothing more that can be said.-
And finally, the clincher:
Although I assume, from syntax, that the author is not a native English speaker, this story would suck in any language.I couldn't have summed it up better myself. :)
10:37pm: Because RPGs Bring the Wank...
Okay, so
Green Ronin put out an RPG book called
Blue Rose. The setting is romantic fantasy (think Mercedes Lackey and Tamora Pierce and similar authors -- anime fen may think shoujo fantasy). The system is heavily modified d20 -- fans christened it True20.
Now, GR apparently didn't intend for True20 to be as popular as it was -- it got to the point where gamers who didn't give a whit about romantic fantasy were buying the
Blue Rose core book for the system. Now, GR had a message board (
The Noble Assembly) for
Blue Rose set up, and many fans, being fans, registered at it.
( And all was happy in the Kingdom of The Noble Assembly, until a Great Shadow of Wank passed throught the pastoral countryside. )In the end Nisarg gets what he wants -- a
True20 forum on
the main GR boards. Which makes me feel ambivalent. I like the system (but the world isn't that interesting to me) so I like the new forum, but I don't like it when whining and being an asshat gets someone what they want. Stop being on my side.
On the other hand, one of the admins did end the argument with this quote: "Oh for goodness sake, people, don't make me come in there and use my Mom Voice! I'll turn these boards around, mister, don't think I won't!" Which pretty much sums up the entire exchange.
