3:00pm: Very tiny wank
[info]sirius_denial complains about muse-chats in reviews and authornotes on ff.net. But people are more concerned with her spelling and grammar. Except [info]nattish, who "doesn't know why they feel the random need to point this stuff out. O_o".

Not a full-scale explosion, but all sides were being pretty bitchy about the whole thing. Spelling and grammar are important, but playing beta to everyone on a comm isn't necessary.

Q: What happens when religion and fandom collide?

A: You get an exsploogion of intergalactic proportions

Where to begin...
Darth Vader's Karma

The Bhagavad-Gita teaches the way of the Jedi.

Why I want to be a Jedi

The religion of Star Wars

There's plenty more Star Wars related links on Beliefnet.com, just follow the click-throughs.

Note: I haven't read through every comment in all the Revenge of the Sith articles -- I've been laughing too much -- so there may be spoilers. Be warned.

3:53pm: From the WTF files of fandom...
Craigslist is a free want ad service originally meant for those people who really want to trade those macramé plant-holders for a surfboard. It’s evolved since then, gone global and added a few new categories, among them Rants and Raves. Generally, R & R is where posters complain about the opposite sex and their jobs / coworkers - or occasionally some freak looking for child pornography - but I digress.

9:40pm: War is peace. Love is hate. Canon is fanon.
My first reported wank! Thanks to Aya (whose JF name I don't know) for directing me to it.

Over on [info]fruits_basket, [info]kouri_shien asks for spoilers about Rin and Haru's relationship beyond book eight. [info]meli_p replies, "Haru/Yuki is purely cannon, unfortunately. ;_; "

[info]kouri_shien's reply is only to mourn the lack of yaoi, without asking what [info]meli_p meant by calling a nonexistant romantic relationship "cannon". No wank so far.

However, [info]meli_p then repeats her mistake by saying, "It's sad. All the gay we wanted, in the end.. it's all proven canon." Buh? It's possible she just got "canon" and "fanon" mixed up, since they are only one letter off from each other . . . a few lines down, [info]kireisarah speaks up with, "I think you mean 'fanon.' And o noes!!1"

The wank begins when [info]meli_p replies, "I think I don't."

In a different subthread, [info]linachu points out again that fanon is very, very different than canon. [info]meli_p retorts, "Personal opinion, I think that pairing is canon. I know the difference, thanks." When it's pointed out that Haru/Yuki is more fanon than canon, she argues, "No, Haru/Rin is the storyline." [info]meliachu wins the thread for her answer, "So... in other words, you're saying that if you want a pairing to be canon, then it is? Does that mean that if I decide I wanted to say that Hitler/George Washington were a real pairing, it would be true?"

The rest of the thread has its interesting moments too . . .
