8:52am: bless you, bad_rpers_suck
tenchichan wants to know why nobody wants to join his new game.

More specifically, I am mad at the entire collective of online roleplayers and this is going to come off as being whiny, but I don't care really. He's decided that it's because everbody is off in fandom, in Shitty AIM chatrooms playing out Harry Potter yaoi fantasies.

Despite this perhaps not promising start, people give various suggestions for places to look for players/reasons they might not be getting applications.

Then the co-mod jumps in with this juicy wankplosion.

I'm calling shenanigans-this is bullshit. I thought there'd be RPers out there made of sterner stuff. I feel like everyone's reservations about the game aren't quite accurate; like they're fearing the worst and expecting so little. And what really gets me going: just because your character may die shouldn't turn you from a game, that's weak and lame. If people actually used their heads and weighed out the pros and cons (sure your character dies, but you get to make a new one, and equally cool character, it keeps the game fresh, etc) then I think we'd get a lot more response. OR if people were really as interested as they claimed we'd get a lot more emails asking questions and inquiring about the game so maybe they could REALLY find out if the game was for them. Kris you tried, this place shouldn't be called "bad_rpers_suck" it should be called "hypocrites_anon"

In case this wasn't enough, she also proclaims that fandom games require no skill.

Oh, and let it be known that I do have a general distates for fandom RPGs. You require no mastery to "create" a character. (I use "create" with poetic license.) It only shows how well you can interpret. And that's not a skill.

Now before you come barking at me, I didn't say all fandom RPers are bad, infact someone show a great mastery of the English language and creative writing.

Somebody takes this as a chance to bring up ancient history.

Small, piquant, but with room for growth.

This is a stale, small wank found on [info]wank_report. But it's still wank, right?

Here we have Rigelian Culture, a Space Cases community.

A fan posts, suggesting that:
"...we should get every single caser from now and way back in the day and have them hand over their stuff, if they still have it. i think that we should make one giant webpage with all of it. one huge huge huge comprehensive space cases page. a giant monster mofo of a page."

A bit of whiny wank on the original post ensues )

OP is upset in her LJ. )

A response in Jeff's LJ! )

Condensed Version:
Wank happens over a poorly worded archive-suggestion post. Older fan goes up against over-sensitive fan.

OP makes a whiny post exaggerating what happened.

Old fan posts in his LJ, doing a bit more "This is why I'm reacting this way" explanation and a wee bit of "Fanbrats are whiny!"

Old fan snerks about them wanting to include his stuff anyway. No link to the list and I can't find it.

Small, but amusing in a funny little way.

6:44pm: Harry Potter and the Hippogriff of Luuurve
On the H/Hr shipper site, Portkey, there is a debate forum where shippers can go at it. For the last few months a quite amusing thread has been raging over the symbolism of the hippogriff.

Fortunately, it's not your usual shipper wank. It features a batshit insane R/Hr shipper who introduces herself with I'm Greek I know everything about Greek mythology. Even if her named sources aren't bad, the attitude is wonderfully crazy, and the discussion descends into a flame war about who's insulting Robert Graves, whether Vergil was Roman, Greek, or Celtic, and lots of other Classical Splooge. All sorts of silliness from posters.

Plus, you'll learn a lot about hippogriffs.
