1:31am: "Stick Enjoy the Silence up your arse" and so forth

in the depeche_mode  community, a lovely and non-pretentious user by the name of [info]synthetikmisery  made a post:

Why do you sheeple, think Violater is their best album?

Black Celebration and Music for the Masses are far better albums, and put them on the map for most of the world along with 101 which was a after effect of Music for the Masses. They went from small venues to huge arenas with the release of Music for the Masses. The work was musical genius, only matched by their live shows from that time.

Violater was filled with radio friendly pop crap, which is quite different than synthpop. When Z100, here in NYC had Enjoy the Silence on heavy rotation, you know DM went wrong somewhere. Money bought them a good album.
The true songs on there are barely mentioned and barely heard.

Stick Enjoy the Silence up your arse and stop being such sheep.

People do not seem to take this label well, the term "coward" is bandied about and the victim card is played.  Probably wouldn't be wanky if [info]synthetikmisery wasn't so keen on taking pot shots at everyone, whee!

ETA: Awww baleeted already :/ Sadly i didn't get a screenshot, shall i just delete this entry?
Son of ETA: The post is back in a more "user friendly" yet strangely f-locked format here (up to you whether it's worth it to join to take a look or not, but the wank train seems to be making a second stop :X)

9:15am: Sealink's Law of Saccharine Condescension Is Broken
A small but funny wank from Mousy:

"Manga elitist vs Winry haters - final score: you all lose."

This wank brought me back to my days in the Slayers fandom. In winryhaters community, peach_jello asks why they hate Winry from FMA so much. Punk_wings decides to tell her and everything goes downhill from there.
2:54pm: Fanfic Rants: it's like Wanks R Us in a way

So over at fanficrants, a post is made by muses_consume asking about the trend of slash.

This isn't exactly wanky in and of itself, no the wank starts in the form of "People feel the need to make everything slash/yaoi. They just aren't happy with conventional relationships anymore. Everyone MUST be gay, because gay is "in". I <3 gay people, but not wannabe gay people." from shiagurl.

Felinephoenix Takes offense.
7:33pm: Mini R. A. Salvatore Wank?
Long-time lurker, first-time poster. Please be gentle. < /clicheintroduction >

It's amazing what you can find when you aren't looking for it. I had just joined the forgotten_realms community over on LJ, and the very first post I see is someone bragging about being a troll. This instantly sends up my possible wank flags, so I toddle over to the message board they linked to and investigate. What I found was small, but amusing. Well... it made me giggle and roll my eyes, at any rate.

Vestele posts a thread essentially complaining about Salvatore's tendency to repeat certain phrases (which is a valid complaint, if you ask me >.<). Silvae replies with what amounts to an agreement and "you ain't seen nothin' yet".

This prompts efmd, a self-proclaimed friend of Salvatore, to post and whine at Silvae because apparently "everything you post in here is an attack on R.A. Salvatore." He then pulls the old "internet psychologist trick" -- "Does is make you feel better about your OWN writing?" -- and proceeds to shoot himself in the foot -- "Does it make you feel superior to the people here who are actually stupid enough to enjoy his books?"

Silvae comes back with a dissection of efmd's post and pokes fun at his typos. The two go back and forth at each other for a few posts, interspersed with some people actually responding to the original thread and even a plea from the OP to take the mini-squabble elsewhere. It seems to get cut off when the board's admin, Laethyn, pops up and essentially tells everybody to STFU.

I dunno... This might even be too small to qualify as real wank, but I was just impressed at how much of the characteristics of wank (internet psychologists, trolling, subtle and not-so-subtle "OMG dun critsize teh masta!" posts) they managed to pack into just a few posts.
