Mock. Mockmockmock. Mockity-mock-mock

History

26th October 2005

1:59am: My very first time posting wank. *sniff* We haven't seen FMA wank for a couple of weeks. And incidentally, Sky_Dark was involved in that one as well.

The Facts:

Ameru posted fanart on fm_alchemist a few months ago. Sky_dark left a compliment. Last week, Sky_dark offers up her soul posted some icons in her icon journal using Ameru's fanart as the base for numbers 21 and 28 without offering any kind of credit or acknowledgment of the artist. Those two icons were quite popular.

Bushbaby_sama, a friend of the artist, writes an open letter to "sky_dark, icon makers who use fanart, and art theives," calling sky_dark out about the use of fanart in her icons. Ameru takes her art down.

Sky_dark shows up and essentially says that 'fanart is a copyright violation, the artist didn't ask permission before she drew the pictures, why should I?' And she never lifted a hand against anyone, so of course the artist isn't hurt by anything she did.

Some Highlights:

Kaitou Marina wants to know why sky_dark's friends (Hime1999) are worth asking permission, but no one else is. The answer makes no logical sense.

In another comment, Sky is more explicit. "Hime gets support because she is a visible and active member of the LJ community. She is accessible. It's a double standard, that's just how it is." Well, that makes it okay. I'm glad she explained that for me.

Others pipe in. They, too, make no sense. She's not the only one using stolen artwork! And besides, artists who draw fanart are violating copyright. How dare that girl want credit for something she drew?

I wonder what would happen if someone plagiarized sky_dark?

And Sky-dark posts a rebuttal in her own journal. Responses are varied, but mostly some version of 'she posted her art on the internet, how dare she get upset when someone uses it' and 'ZOMG!! Sky is NOT rude! That girl had it coming!'

ETA: Removed some erroneous assumptions of allegiance.
7:31pm: So, over in the Mary Sues community over at Livejournal, user [info]savageworlds posts a Sue for the Resident Evil fandom. (Entry is friendslocked, so check out the copy and paste job over in here.)

The original authors find out and are not pleased, posting backhanded compliments and puffing themselves up, both in the entry and in savageworlds' journal. She also posts in her own journal about it, presumably to gloat or something.

Not satisfied, [info]misscaptain decides to prove that fandom is SERIOUS BUSINESS and makes a post detailing how superior she is and why she can write Sues. Highlights include how brave and truthful she is for writing Sues and how there is no canon.

EDIT: Baleeted. But was rescued in the comments here.

Not too large, but [info]misscaptian's bloated language is wanky in and of itself.
8:30pm: It's an ALLIGATOR.
Not the most dramatic wank ever, but interesting for the shear "...dude. Chill" aspect of it.

A new character is introduced in the comic Misty The Mouse, a comic about a mouse. Named Misty. Which, despite being about a mouse with an f-cup, is really mostly PG.

The forumites frolic and play.

But all is not well in the land of the F-cup mouse. AkumaDaimyo insists that the new character is not, in fact, a snake. It is an alligator.

It becomes more apparent that the character is a snake. AkumaDaimyo continues to insist that it is an ALLIGATOR, belittling those who disagree.

The new character is a snake.

AD insists that the comic's creator Dutch, drew him thusly JUST TO PROVE AD wrong.

Dutch tells him to shut up.
AD tells Dutch to go have gay sex with Vin Diesel.

The rest of the forumites blink, and continue to frolic and play.
