12:26am: GameFAQs: The bosses are too easy!
Over on the Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow board at GameFAQs, user The Hye Circus posts a thread about how the bosses in DoS are too easy. Other people chime in with the usual comments about not leveling so hard, the bosses haven't been hard since the NES days, and maybe you should try Julius mode?

However, a few people try to debate him on his assertion that it's horrible game design. And then it all goes downhill.

Highlights include The Hye Circus accusing everyone else of not playing any other games, insisting that powerleveing doesn't count if you don't intend to level, and how patterned boss battles would save everything. Pretty soon there is nothing but wank as people try to make sense of The Hye Circus' growing batshit.

Fairly small, but entertaining. I do make a few comments, but as I got out before it got really wanky I'm putting this here.
8:18am: Fear the Jane Austen fans!
I was going to post this over at [info]fandom_lounge, but some of the comments contained in this story are so wanky that I decided to drop it here instead.

NPR's Morning Edition ran a story about the new Pride and Prejudice film, specifically about the reaction of the Jane Austen Society, who got a sneak peek before the movie's official opening today.

As we learn in the story, several fans are not too pleased with the new film, in the nitpickiest of ways. Keira Knightley's "carriage" does not befit a Regency lady, for instance. Darcy is "too sulky". The hair was unspeakably messy throughout. Etc. Much of it has the sound of fandom poker (i.e. I Know More About This Than You Do, So There). Highly amusing.

I haven't scanned the Pemberley boards for commentary yet, although here's a link if anyone feels like poking around.

(I love Jane Austen's books, but I can't work up an obsession for them like that. Or for much of anything, which is why I suppose so much of my involvement in fandom in general is limited to bemused observation.)

(Edited to change a pronoun with an unclear antecedent.)
3:21pm: When it rains it pours.

Hey, lookit here, we have more BPAL drama which I am lazily presenting.

This one has been simmering for a while, actually, but I've been too lazy to post it.

Brief summary: The BPAL forums have a subforum for the sharing of other scent-related companies. A post is made introducing Atropa's Cottage, a new perfume oil and other things company. All very well and good. People explore it. But drama is lurking!

Someone posts a photo of her newly arrived order, to show people what the stuff looks like. Uh oh. Turns out the logo being used looks suspiciously like a logo that was submitted to a BPAL logo contest. Oh, dear. (See pages 2 & 3 of the thread)

Ok, that get's cleared up but then we have more drama when someone says she thinks Atropa's Cottage is a just a mite too similar to BPAL and a very long discussion ensues. (Good stuff starts about Page 8)

This eventually peters out but today, for your friday fun, we have a new drama!

Atropa's Cottage released their Holiday LE scents. Uh oh. Someone notices some of them are rather similar to scents sold by a company called Sweetcakes. (Starts Page 16 and continues to 17)

Further discussion is held at the LJ community and someone most likely a sock puppet posts more comparisons showing the similarities between Atropa's Cottage and Sweetcakes blends.

And someone on the LJ community has just pointed out similarities between Atropa's Cottage and FeMaledictions, another scent company.

Do we have a case of plagiarism in perfume? Step aside, Harry Potter* fandom!

*Extra funny because Atropa's Cottage had a scent named Honeydukes and then it was mentioned that the Harry Potter people might not be so happy about that and the name was changed.

6:09pm: Fanficrants is at it again...
Today [info]nessie_cakes posts that she's tired of people using OMG!BIGWERDS in their fanfiction.

S/h/it claims that if you have a decent vocabulary "It makes you look kinda like a bitch."

Fanficrants does the usual and explodes/implodes/whatever.

Only up to 50+ responses but growing quickly.

EDIT:
One of the highlights
10:18pm: FMA wanks again.
Acdragonmaster posts a... very tl;dr post, really! detailing her problems with some fans in the FMA fandom, especially hime1999, and complete with screencaps and emails. The commenters go wild.
