12:08am: And they're off! ... again ...
More HP wank.

Vanceone (everyone's favourite internet lawyer) is at it again, this time at Sugarquill , a R/Hr shipper site which does not allow ship debates - something which does not stop Vance.

The modly hammer is brought into play fairly quickly, but not before both sides wank a little, and the point flies over most posters' heads.

Edit: I fixed the tags.

5:05pm: An Angel Gets Her Wings - Another QAF B/J FanFic Wank

It was only a few days ago when [info]spicytacokisses  posted the latest QAF B/J fandom wank on the 2005 QaF Bad!Fic Awards.  Now, it seems like the shit has hit the fan again.  As one of the "bitter people", I love it.

This fandom cracks me up. It just wanks itself. It's imploded again at [info]_bestoftheworst on the topic of: The Best Of The Worst in QaF fanfic. Check it out:

http://www.livejournal.com/community/_bestoftheworst/26901.html

It started with a really funny tongue-in-cheek review by [info]tamalinn of a fanfic written by [info]gaedhal, who then linked the post to her journal and came by to defend her writing. Her minions followed and hilarity ensued in an eruption of fanwanking. Apparently, this was also perceived by some especially paranoid members as payback for the Bad Fanfic Awards held by [info]jane2005.

The resulting pile-on and accompanying histrionics finally lead the original poster, [info]tamalinn to wisely conclude "i might have to lay low for awhile".

5:18pm: ROMP on! See you at THE TOP!
Introducing the world-famous Monroe Mann (and the Monroe-haters). Also, featuring incidental appearances by the Countess.

(IMDb wank, but I think it's something special enough to make it up. Most links don't point to the forums. ** by them if they do.)

I've been watching this one for awhile... as a result, it's long.

How I discovered Monroe Mann. )

Monroe Mann's big claim to fame is, apparently, a non-speaking background role in the cinematic classic, Swimfan. His (self-written) bio isn't quite as impressive as the Countess', though it does contain the classic fact:

"Having moved up and down the east coast so much, his accent is such that people often think he's from England."

A little reading dug up more.
Monroe Mann's media empire. )

Basically, Monroe Mann seems to attempting the Tony Robbins route to success-- become rich and famous by telling people how to become rich and famous.

Hey, it worked for Tony...

But we're only getting started here. So, there's Monroe Mann himself. And, talking about self-aggrandizing posturing, he's got it.

And then...
there are the Monroe-haters.
There are Monroe-haters? )

There's been recent drama.

The Amazon.com wishlist drama )

But Monroe has defenders.

Defenders, sockpuppets, and threats. )

I'm sure there's more, but I got many good hours of amusement out of Monroe Mann, the Monroe-haters, and his supporters. I think you all should have the same opportunity.

ETA: The "Vienna Casey" incident is in a Press Release on i-Newswire. Submitted by a Monroe-hater? Very likely.

ETA2: And now Monroe Mann plans to sue the haters. From the "I'm a-gonna sue" press release:

He recognizes that such disrespectful people (who call themselves "Monroe haters") come with the territory, and as the more famous he becomes, the more people will take a dislike to him, which is a common occurrence for most A-list stars like George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez.

and

"We believe actors can get further by concentrating on the business and attitude side of show-business rather than actual training. I am proof this theory works as I have little training in acting, but with my business brains I have starred in a number one box office smash film 'Swimfan' with Erika Christensen, and have my second film in production at the moment" said Monroe.

The Mann; the ego.

Grabbed from [info]wank_report.

Around a year ago, there was a tsunami which a few of you may remember. It was on the news once or twice. Potterfandom, always willing to pass the hat around, stepped up to the plate with comms like pr0n2therescue and art2therescue. And there was rejoicing.

Then, a bit over a year later, there was a hatememe. Which brought up this.

[info]celestialsoda. I'm half convinced that she kept all that money that the fanartists raised last year for the tsunami victims. She jumped down some girls throat for daring to question how much money was raised on one of the auctions, and as far as I know a final accounting was never done. Not cool.

And even though I bid on and won two pieces of art for that, I have to say this practice of fanartists selling their work is bullshit. Spin it all you like, but it's copywrite infringement and no different than a writer trying to sell their fanfics. People, stop thinking if you don't call them on their bullshit they might draw you something! They won't!

And the rejoicing ended. )

Predictably, explosions follow, and demands for accountablility.

</a></b></a>[info]celestialsoda has yet to reply in any form I have seen.

ETA: The response.
