6:17am: How to lose any respect your daughter had for you
On the New HermionePotter.net site, Dementor149 posts the essay "Through a Parent's Eyes" - basically, just your basic Harmonian essay about why Ron's wrong for Hermione, and how bickering is ever so evil, only with the phrase "as a parent" added at random intervals ["To me, as a parent, that is stealing"] Otherwise, pretty standard Harmonian essay, except for this passage, near the end of it. I'm going to quote a little more than is necessary, just to provide the context that makes it so amusing:

Why did I spend so much time on the relationships within the story? I feel, as a parent, that stories geared for younger audiences need to have healthy lessons on life built into them. Authors that write for young people should be held to a higher standard than those who write for more mature people. Young teens need to read things that will reinforce the moral lessons that are being taught by their parents. Stories engage us on many levels, open our minds to new ideas and increase our understanding. They serve us with examples of the way we should behave and how the world works. I want my son to read things that will help him understand the way the world works. I had hoped that he might find some of that in the Harry Potter books. As an ex-Satanist I appreciate the innocence of her magic in the series. Now that I am a Christian I appreciate the Christian symbology and for the most part the good, moral behavior of her characters. Where she has shown that her characters make mistakes I have an opening for discussion and an opportunity to teach. It is only at the point of the relationship issues that I fear Rowling may be making a mistake that I cannot justify to my self and use her story text to teach what I want for my son to know.

...However, that's not the reason it's here. It's one of the comments:

As a parent myself, I applaude you for your essay. It was beautifully written and speaks such an amazing truth! I know all to well how our curent pop culture affects our youth. My daughter recently ended a relationship with her boyfriend of three years, only to turn around to date another boy. They two constantly bicker, I am so worried for her, she says she's in love. I only foresee a sad and lonely and painful future, rife with divorce. Thank you for this essay, I plan on showing it to my daughter!

...She's going to show her daughter an anti-Ron/Hermione essay to show why she shouldn't be dating her current boyfriend. If only we could see that conversation.
12:29pm: It Ain't Harmonian. Yet.
The Stanford Daily takes a swipe at JKR, along with a bajillion other pop culture icons. It's satire, much like the infamous Onion article about JKR's tea with Satan.

However. You can't make fun of JK and get away with it in this fandom, no siree. Small, but hell, it's HP. You know it's not going to stay there. Free speech be damned!

Anyone want to take bets on how long it is until the Harmonians claim oppressrusion (or however the hell they spell it) for not mentioning H/Hr?

eta; Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh.

eta2; The crazy is reaching new and exciting levels. Apparently someone has emailed The President of Stanford about the article.
9:14pm: The Doctor Who Will Kill Sevmione?
(Found this one on [info]wank_report)

The last time we took up Snape shipping wank, we shut down the 'Detention' Snarry archive. Today's target is Ashwinder, a Snape/Hermione fic archive that some anonymice are really peeved about.

Here's your briefing. [info]southernwitch99 created an anonymous whinging community called [info]secret_whinges in which anonymice come and complain about things. The post here has launched an anonymice brawl.

An anonymouse complains about Ashwinder. "I know this is going to make me HUGELY unpopular in the fandom, as this site is massively popular, but I've had enough," s/he begins, and continues that she wasn't accepted at Ashwinder. Other mice chime in with complaints, and some with defences and they start getting confused who is whom, since no one signs their posts at all. Includes this post

"unfortunately the admin team's reason for rejection is based on their personal preference or opinion when it comes to the English language rather than following the rules - then again they make up their own rules

instead the lefthand does not know what the righthand is doing and each is forming their own opinion on corrections needed"

Another anonymouse starts new thread in protest.

"Southern,
Your directions say, "There will be no personal attacks allowed here." But you are encouraging direct attacks on the people at a targeted archive, naming it by name. Good grief."

And apparently someone alleged that an archive called Illusions ran Fandom Wank? But the maintainer deleted the original post so all we have are the reactions here.

Got that all down? Then let's GO GO GO GO!

ETA: A mouse has shown up to tell us why Ashwinder sucks. Here.
