3:20am: We deserve to interview JKR!!!!!
From HermionePotter.net's Sidebar Chat:

LawOfJude
Caina, maybe you can interview JK, that way Harmony Shippers can have representation and a way of defeding ouselves!

LawOfJude
We we're given no way to refute what Emerson was saying about us. She doesn't kow us and has never tried! She needs to talk to Harmony Shippers...

Caina
Me? Interview JK Rowling? I'd love to.

Caina
I could have the queen Heron herself tell me that I and thousands of other readers

Caina
though still highly valued, to be sure, just got it all wrong. That we have no base whatsoever for seeing the H/Hr ship in her books

Caina
And that we need to re-read because obviously we have poor reading comprehension skills.

Phoenix
*snort* I agree with you there, Caina. That's probably all she'd say. Oh well, I don't care. I'm still sailing!

LawOfJude
Caina, you crack me up! A bunch of H/Hr Shippers on HPANA are trying to figure out someone who represents Harmony that could interview JK.

LawOfJude
Your name has come up several times and people are frustrated that JK has yet to interview someone who avidly supports H/Hr.

Caina
Really? I had no idea my name had come up on HPANA.

Caina
For those purposes, I mean. That's very flattering.

...Something's afoot here....

ETA: ...She's already starting collecting questions for the interview...

ETA2:

"You don't have to agree with me to be a member of HrP.Net, but you will need to be respectful, and follow the site rules. Members who are approved, and then come to respectfully rebuttal posts will soon find the door locked next time they come back."

...Well, good to know she respects other opinions.
8:56am: Paging Mr. Crawford!
A new LJ community dedicated to one of the most prolific trolls I've ever met. He demands NC-17 fic through IM or email - usually, er, "odd" femslash pairings in Smallville or Buffy - and when he doesn't get them, look out!

Finally, his many victims get together to discuss the good times had.

Meet Mr. Jeremy Crawford ... the man who wants you to write p0rn for him. NOW!

(Full disclosure: This guy used to write to me regularly, years ago, demanding Lana/Martha, but I just banned him. Can't believe he's still around.)
Current Mood: Dramatic
11:36am: Bite-sized Nintendo Hotlinking wank
So we all agree hotlinking is bad, right?

Well, apparently if you are hotlinked, swapping out the offending item for something else is being a stupid petty bitch.

The 'switched' video is no longer working, but the wank remains.

ETA: My friend who showed me this link in the first place has found more! The thread at NintendoGal's forum where we can see the replacement video. Sadly, no goatse or floating turds. But it does mean the wank is just that much more over the top.
7:17pm: Good Old Fashioned GAFF Wank- Just like Grandma use to make
Rageful Jewel sporks a fic called "Hermione's Choice" and the author shows up to defend herself.

SFPanther only posts two more times. Things calm down and true wank is not to be had...

At least not until SFPanther's sock puppet super nanny anonymous friend shows up to set the GAFFers straight.

Damn, Hermione Granger brings all the wank to the yard these days.

Note: This is in the New Releases forum, so people without GAFF accounts can see the links.

ETA: SFPanther shows up to apologize and tell off the anon-friend.
10:24pm: We All Can't Be Internet Famous
Bringing up certain topics is a no-no if you want to avoid wank. [info]sailorptah makes the following initial post in the Hellsing com on eljay:

"There's an interesting series of posts which [info]metafandom has been following, about the term "BNF." It stands for Big Name Fan, and was originally a complimentary term (for the fans who are especially well known in a given fandom), but to some it has changed into a derogatory term (for the fans who are so indiscriminately loved that they can start writing complete trash and their praises will still be sung).

I say this because I'd never heard the term used in Hellsing fandom (or any anime fandom, come to think of it; metafandom mostly focuses on Western fandoms, like Harry Potter, Firefly, Star Wars, etcetera), but it brings up an interesting question.

Who are the BNFs in Hellsing fandom? I mean BNF in the complimentary sense, as in: which people are, within the fandom, famous?

Thess, Pu-sama, and the Solid&Etc artist are the ones that immediately jump to mind. What say you?"

Sounds to me like someone is trying to get proclaimed a BNF for their efforts in the fandom. The responses to this post are varied. Some proclaim the poster a BNF, some other members of the com. Some call the poster out on her supposedly innocent intentions.

[info]sailorptah later edited the post to add (likely due to certain comments that she received):

"Edit: Mittsie, Dreadnot, and Red Anne Bonny have been mentioned. So has Blood Knight's Rip, who is definitely well-known, despite criticisms.

By the way, this is not the Official List of The Only People Who Matter In The Hellsing Fandom; this is not meant to allude to usage of the term BNF in the crazy, crazy HP fandom; and this is not being forwarded to government agents for use as evidence against you in the upcoming secret trials. Certainly not. Please put all such thoughts out of your minds ^_^"

Isn't it the mark of a BNF to proclaim ignorance at knowing what a BNF is?

ETA: Fandom Wank gets a baleeted shout out, and not surprisingly, [info]sailorptah's post was subsequently edited yet again to add:

"Edit 2: In the interest of having an objective discussion (and because I'm tired of being accused of ego-stroking), please do not mention me as a possible BNF. I'm not doing this because I'm hard up for a compliment; I'm doing it out of a genuine curiosity about the topic. So, talk about what fans are well known (or somewhat well known), talk about what makes them well known, talk about whether the term BNF is legitimate or not - give me interesting thoughts and opinions about it - but leave me out of it. Got it? Good."
