4:25am: Anita Blake download wank with potential to grow
Some Hit-and-Runner (or sockpuppet) posted a link to LKH Lashout and Anita Blake Fan that leads to a download of the new Anita Blake Book
Many Fans are happy to not have to spend the money on that pice of bad Pr0n shit, but then along comes Sweetpirate and askes for trouble:
Question: You are all aware that uploading Micah and reading it without paying is considered stealing and is illegal right?

Everyone is fast now to claim that even while they did download it they are of course going to buy the book anyway.

Meanwhile Hallow, who at first was rather high and mighty about not downloading but buying falls from her high horse, as she is admiting that she gets all her books from someone she knows working for a publishing house

And the mods?
They announce to take their sweet time until taking down the post with the download link

3:24pm: Webcomics wank.
There's a new book coming out; "The History of Webcomics", by the self-styled webcomics expert T. Campbell. The cover features unauthourized likenesses of PA's Gabe, Scott McCloud, Piro, and several others. Several people are pissed, including Pvp's Scott Kurtz. In short, he claims the book is self-important, poorly-written crap.

Campbell himself comments. He basically laughs at being under the spotlight of, um, the Internet, claims the artists approved the use of their characters, and one more that I don't understand at all. Some Asian dude weighs in (actually how I found out about the drama). MT's down, so I can't check up on the forums there.

7:13pm: RENT wank ahoy
It's been quiet on the RENT front. Too quiet.
Then, suddenly, a lot of intro posts all at once. A lot of questions that could be answered with a simple Google search. Some people call troll but mostly answer questions thoroughly, if not pleasantly.
So, rent_head1996 takes it upon herself to post a notice.

I'm not entirely sure which emails she's referring to, but most of the resposes I've seen were civil, and keep in mind she's hardly the mod. RENT mod doesn't like having his omnipotence challenged, but has yet to respond.
Even after she posts that, people are still playing nicely within the comm, but since she's hardly the mod, people call her on it by anonymousing in her personal journal, which she is foolish childish kind enough to share with us within the comm.

I weep for the narrowness of your life, or mind, or whatever. You seem to live in a cage and that's quite sad. In an a homophobic society, homosexuals, both male and female, have to present themselves as 'friends' 'flatmates' and a number of other masks that are acceptable to said society. That's why readers are allowed, nay encouraged, to read subtext in published books and other media expressions.

You don't agree that there can be gay people? Your right and privilege. You want to stop everyone else to think there can be gay people? Waaaaay off your limits of freedom. Respect is all about mutual boundaries, and if you prefer your fave characters 'unsullied', well, the definition of 'unsullied' is so relative that really we all must accept others people's definition - as I do yours - without waging wars or feeling diminished by them.

As for the very cluché attack about analysis and good looking actors, please! If movieverse is considered canon, actors' reactions are canon as well. Their problem if they can't act well and let their own personal biases come through, it's still movieverse canon. Can't have it both ways, luv.

Besides canon is a trampolin, not an inflexible dogma, or there'd be no fanfic worth reading ever. And there's a LOT of fanfic that's way better than canon, because, let's face it, canon is not at all Shakespeare most of the time.

So what's your peeve? Homophobic or canon fundie?

I and a few others encourage said player to just quit the game and move on. There are other genderswap Teen Titans games out there...which just makes me go 'bzuh?', but that's another rant in itself.
