12:14am: Would you look at the date!


Thanks to charlottelennox and her tale of Msscribe, this past week, Fandom was put on pause. We paused to read this sordid story, and we paused to reflect on sockpuppets and crazy Christians and faux stalkers and attacking sick women in the name of a BNF. Some of us paused to ask, "Hey, what does 'BNF' stand for?" and some of us, in a display of great kindness, did not answer, "STFU, n00b!" but paused in their reading of Part Five and explained gently.

We paused and witnessed the great outpouring of sorrow and forgiveness in the HP fandom. BNFs who had been enemies for years turned to each other and virtually embraced. Many begged for forgiveness, and we watched as that was readily given. We also paused and boggled at the suggestion that lying was okay because that's the purpose of language, but hey. In this kinder, gentler Fandom, there is room for (almost) all opinions.

We have been inspired by this, so today at Fandom_Wank, we pause to remember. We pause and remember with sorrow the tragedy of Deletegate. We pause and remember with full hearts the joy that was Fandom_Love. We pause and snicker at the aftermath of those two events and say, "Man, aren't we a bunch of wanky bitches?"

Today, also, we must pause and remember our fallen wank comrades. We pause and mourn for backfromspace and elfy. We pause and remember fondly rann (he was a guy) and sagralisse (she wasn't) . We pause and wonder what the hell happened to arkane156. We pause and think of our days as "shit-flinging cunts" before we were The Cult of Mean. We pause and ponder The Cabal and Sarah T and Cousinjean and She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Wanked and Lee Goldberg and Anne Rice and Ginmar and Oselle and all of the Great Wankers gone by. We pause and laugh when we think of thorn_star (aka phoenix)'s mournful complaint: "I'm banned, dude. And it's not right." We pause and remember the days we learned of Squidwarts and bukkake rolls and sexboxes and ass full throttle in the produce isle and every single detail ever of Ataniell's personal life. And yes, we pause and chant together, "my hed is pastede on yey!"

So, today fellow wankas, we ask that you pause. Pause and remember the wank, and wankers, and the wankas and the catchphrases and the OTPs of days past. Look to the wiki for guidance. Please. Share your memories. Share the wank. Never forget how Fandom_Wank brought Fandom together and tore it apart, over and over and over again.

We shall now pause and delete Fandom_Wank for nine minutes of silent reflection. Don't worry, you won't even notice we were gone.

11:56pm: SHE'S KNEW! Give her a break!
I missed the first part of this wank but the tail end is still going, so enjoy:  mrsstokes on CSI Icons posts some icons (this part i missed) and somewhere along the line she gives the impression that some icons created by other people were made by her.

I'm unclear whether it was the icons she posted or whether it was in her journal page for icons she credited herself there, but it doesn't matter because after she deletes the offending post and removes the icons in question, she still feels the need to pout about it.  Not only that, but someone else decides to go off the handle about the treatment this newbie recieved for her faux-pas.  People grumble about the prolonged of drama and the whole "SHE'S KNEW!  Give her a break!" idea.

This probably would be over by now but it seems that mrsstokes is one of those people who doesn't grasp the concept of replying to a thread rather than making an entirely new one about the same topic, so who knows what the future holds?
