: What is it with fanficrants this week?
jennaland delivers, quite literally, thoughts on yaoi.
Okay, so I'm a bit of a SasuNaru fangirl.
I like my Sasuke x Naruto, not as fond of Naruto x Sasuke, but I believe everyone is entitled to their personal preferences. And hell, anyone who belongs to the same fandom I do knows we all have our own pairing preferences.
That's why when I see someone write something like, "Sasuke x Naruto and Naruto x Sasuke IS THE SAME DAMN PAIRING," I get a little ticked off. Because, sure, the pairing characters may be the same, but the characters themselves are different. Different personalities. Different motivations. You get the idea.
And if I , as a girl, identify more closely with a specific character (Re: Naruto), and like to project myself into the story I'm reading, then the positions of the characters during sex really do matter. Because as much as I like penis, I don't have one, and if Naruto is the one giving rather than taking, then I can't relate to the story as well as I'd like to.
So to sum it all up: Yes, there is a difference, and no, I am not ignorant because I think there is a difference.
Thank you for your time.
After the inevitable explosion begins, this edit is made.
*EDIT* (I hate to do this, but people seem to be jumping to conclusions about my rant. Jesus, 15 posts in 5 minutes...)
No, this is NOT a SasuNaru is better than NaruSasu rant, that all comes down to personal preference.
This is also NOT a rant about characters changing personalities depending on positions in sex. As I say in my post, I IDENTIFY more with Naruto as a character than Sasuke, and in R or NC17 fics that helps me get into the story. I never mentioned that I enjoyed an oc Naruto, really it is quite the opposite. And having a specific preference for a x b, or b x a in a fic that doesn't include sex? Doesn't make much sense.
What this IS is a rant defending my right to have a preference between SasuNaru and NaruSasu. That is all.
I personally wasn't aware that there was or should be a difference, but what do I know; I'm just a humble roboslasher. Also, is emasculinating an actual word?
EDIT: Apology posted while I slept. Original post has been ba-leeted, but screencaps are available in the comments.
