Over on the ABC Grey's Anatomy message boards, luv2watch_gh posts with the subject 'WHY DO PEOPLE COMPARE HOMOSEXUALS WITH AFRICAN AMERICANS???'
You just know this is going to end well.
As you can see it makes me soooooo angry.
Homesexual and African American are NOT interchangeable.
As far as being discriminated--a homosexual person can leave their home everyday and HIDE their sexuality in order to avoid being discriminated against if they wanted to--a Black person can NEVER leave their home and HIDE their ethnicity in order to avoid being discriminated against!
People STOP comparing their struggles--its an INSULT to some African Americans--Who has ever been enslaved in the U.S. for being Homosexual???

Can we please not bring up the slave card? Obviously it was wrong that people were enslaved, and people should not be treated differently because of their race, sexuality, gender, religion, etc. But the slave comment just tends to get on my nerves. I wasn't/am not a slave owner and you are not a slave. How can people of today be blamed for the actions of those that we've never met? And how can people of today act like they were personally involved? Like I said, yes it was undoubtedly inhumane and wrong, but we shouldn't be forced to pay for someone's actions.
And by the way, I understand why you're saying not to compare racial prejudice with sexual prejudice. But I think the reason people are using that is because IW is very much into racial equality. So they are saying that he would be excessively offended (as well he should be) if someone was racist against him, so he should have thought twice before degrading someone based on their sexuality.
luv2watch_gh fires back:
1. Black Slavery took place for 500 YEARS, it its ramifications CANNOT be UNDONE in 50 years.
2. Mr. Washington can choose to perceive homosexuals whatever way he wants--that is his choice, just like it was ABC/Disney's choice to cast a homosexual to play a heterosexual--people are so hypocritical.
3. You said I was discriminating, but in the same breath you say IW should feel EXCESSIVELY offended because he is a Black man??? Your very statement is racist.
And it pretty much degrades from there. Attempts at rational discussion are made, the history of slavery is whipped out, and the bible is thumped. Only 6 pages, so dive on in.
