As you know, many moons ago the land of literature was invaded by the forces of Twilight and their insane leaderZantStephanie Meyer. Their batboop-crazy antics have been recorded fully elsewhere in these halls, and so let us proceed swiftly to the latest news.
It seems that Twilight fans have developed a thing for petitions. Lots of petitions. For everything. Let me explain.
The actor who plays Edward, Robert Pattinson, is working on an unrelated movie, entitled "Water for Elephants" (based on a novel that began as a NaNoWriMo entry, fun fact). It seems possible his co-star from Twilight, Kristen Stewart, might conceivably visit the première, right? Most people would have no reaction to this. Most people wouldn't even have spent the time to think up the connection. Twilight fans, on the other hand, start a petition to ban her from attending.
This was the report that tipped me off. There was apparently a big flaming thread on IMDB about it, but it has since been deleted. If anyone happened to see it and take screencaps, let us know!
Anyway, while I was searching for a few links to put in a writeup (and maybe some 'caps), I happened across an unrelated page. Apparently Robert is a smoker. Twilight fans' solution? Sign a petition, of course! So I got the impression that this was a "thing" in Twilight fandom, and I started to get curious. Let's see how deep this rabbit hole goes....
