Icons... They're just ICONS. Life will continue to go on without them and even these journal sites that host these icon features. Lol, they act as if they have the freaking copyright to the images from which they made these icons from. Sure, they "created" the icon, but really... It's only altering the image or picture with crops, sparkles, fading of colors, animation, what have you. It's wrong to steal and I know this doesn't excuse such actions, but this is, in fact, the Internet. Anyone can take anything whenever they want if they so please. I'm sure that _whatever is upset and tired of everyone "picking" on her, but talking like this though? Mocking the "image" that people just may think or even see of you as... Oh, I'm sure that'll make a difference in her current situation...

Sometimes, you have to say that you're going to let it go and mean it even if you feel/know that you were not in any wrong. But if you wish to stand up for yourself which will ensue more drama, then that's your choice. And it can be worthwhile, yes. But in this situation... I would have to say that it isn't and will never be. That's just my opinion though. Neither am I her nor am I directly involved in this matter. So... I wouldn't rightly know.

I guess icons are more serious than what I thought they were, lol.

Personally, I just think it's extremely bad manners and icon-theives deserve to have the hell flamed out of them. Because, well, original or not, I made my icons for me to use and never said or implied otherwise. It's not like I don't make similar ones for anyone who asks. I'll hold someone's hand thought photoshop/imageready, or make things to their directions if they don't have the skills or the programs. Everyone wants nice icons, and I'm happy to help. Icons are cool.

But it's an oversimplification to say that all icons are just cropped pictures with text slapped on. There are complex manips in some of mine that I spent hours on and would be extremely pissed off if someone stole. Especially if they then tried to claim it was their own work. Some people on my friendslist have even more complex manips, or use their own artwork. Yeah, this is the internet and it's gonna happen, but that doesn't mean people should ignore it. After all the fractional colour adjustments and airbrushing and eye-burning pixel-by-pixel fixes I had to do on my Wade/Lance icon because the fuckers have never stood next to each other in a photo, if someone takes it you'd better believe I'm gonna get my flame on. If they want one, they can fucking ask me like a civilised person.

Not to mention the icon of ME. Last I checked, I owned me quite comprehensively.
