It's my comment on her personal crusade as the Furry Defense League.

My ex is a furry and he grumps about the potshots people take, but he agrees it's an easily-targeted fandom/community/kink. He doesn't go on ninja-flipout rants, in person, or on the web.

While FurryWankerGirl doesn't flip out per se, the volume of wank she has accrued makes the label fit, IMO.

That's the thing right there. Anything considered "outside the norm" by whatever society you live in is an automatic target for potshots.

The mature members in the community know this, and deal with it in a hopefully mature manner.

(I'm a were, and no doubt the were/therianthropy community gets its share of potshots and stereotypes, but what can you do? Can't really blame 'em can you? It IS a little weird to some when someone says "I feel like I have the soul of a bear" to them, and of course they're going to react to that by saying something to the tune of "you're crazy for thinking that!".)

Thank goodness. Nothing's more embarrassing than a member in a community who only encourages the stereotypes AND adds a new one in the process. I don't think you're insane for that. n.n I know several dragons, so I know how that can be. The ones who treat it as a spiritual thing, having the soul of a dragon (or whatnot), that's cool. That's a zen sorta thing, ya know, man? *takes off Hyde's sideburns*
The ones that freak me out are the ones that insist they actually ARE dragons. Like, physically. Because these people are, quite frankly, insane. One particularly wanktastic specimen of this breed is Stormfury, who insists that their (quite physical) hermaphroditic lineage goes back at least three generations. I was once talking with this... personage... on a muck and they were going on and on about this, and I finally said "Fine, look down. Are you actually typing at the keyboard with claws? Are your hands covered with scales? Is there ACTUALLY A DRAGON sitting in your chair?"
They berated me at length and made a number of poses physically attacking me, and once I left, sent some abusive p #mails where they were "sobbing in anger"
I guess when that bubble bursts for some, it don't burst easy. c.c;; But apparently it's okay, since last I heard, they were back to same old same old, and merrily driving serious, sane dragons off mailing lists with their very presence.
