...dude. WTF?
Roleplayers. Most of us have probably been one before. Most of us, even those of us who are members of this particular species, will agree that we have frighteningly high numbers of wankers in our midst. Such as the one that has recently left a lovely mess all over the roleplayers and rpg_promo community on LJ.
Phasmaphobic is his name and dodging questions is his game! Come one, come all, come see him skillfully drive a "waaaaaaaambulance" at top speed through these innocent communties while simultaneously flinging silly insults and dodging questions left and right. He will then proceed to mistake his own reflection for his obviously superior opponent!
It starts when silentclarity, the mod of the roleplayers community decides to ::gaspshock!:: enforce a rule of the community- 'Don't spam the comm with ads for your game'. Fair enough, yes? Wolfsamurai steps up in the comments when silentclarity asks for suggestions and thoughts on how to control the ad spam by pointing out that rpg_promo is a good place to advertise for games.
Silentclarity then makes a new post letting people know about this wonderful little community, telling everyone that they have to go there to advertise now. From now on, no more ads in the roleplayers comm. Makes sense, yes? The mods of both comms agree that this is a good arrangement.
Phasmaphobic, does not.
Phasmaphobic makes a comment complaining about this new rule. Phasmaphobic seems to think that because the community is for roleplayers, they should not have to go to another community, *also* roleplayer oriented and made for the specific purpose of advertising, to advertise. Apparently, this is too much effort. Then he posts ANOTHER comment, complaining about the promo community! He only wants to advertise for local games, which is not allowed at rpg_promo because, as zannechaos, the beloved co-founder of said community, put it- "I don't know about you, but I'd get irritated constantly seeing RPGs advertised that I might even be interested in, but they're on the other side of the country, or even on the other side of the ocean." She then suggests making a community for advertising for real time games in Phasmaphobic's region if he wants to find other gamers that badly.
This is where it gets good. Zanne makes a post in her own journal, complaining about this person, and justifiably so. Just a nice little rant, getting off her chest in the comforts of her own private journal, where such rants belong. In fact, it was originally friends locked...
Until Phasmaphobic starts turning up the wank a bit. He makes a post in the roleplay community, now comments disabled, that wolfsamurai points out in the comments in Zanne's entry. He whines and bitches and moans about another community's rules. Then Zanne and Wolfie get in there and start trying to ONCE AGAIN explain exactly why this rule is in place. After a few comments, our friend disables the comment feature, taking away all our fun.
But all is not lost! Our good friend Zanne has come to the rescue and sent me forwards of the LJ comment reply notifications! Let's get a quick run-down, shall we?
Someone accuses them of hijacking the name rpg_promo unfairly and that they should change to online_rpg_promo so they can use the other for advertising local games (to which I refer them to my icon).
Zanne once AGAIN restates the reasons for their rule. Someone informs her that she should switch to decaf, while phasmaphobic acts condescending and accuses Zanne (while calling her "mister") of having her panties in a wad.
Excuse me a moment. ::pulls out a quote::
"Don't think you had any affect whatsoever on my panties."
"What *did* I have an affect on then?"
"Other than my upchuck reflex? Nothing."
Zanne then throws out the hypothetical question of "If it's such a thorn in this person's side, why doesn't he just get off his ass and create his own community for RPGers within in regional area who are within reasonable traveling distance so they can attend live action and tabletop RPGs in the area instead of whining and spamming a community to whine?"
Decaf boy ponders on the possibility of it being phasmaphobic's religion. I say if that's his religion, I wish to know what he calls this religion. The Holy Episcopal Church of Asshattery, maybe? Phasmaphobic attempts to clear things up by giving us the answer.
because:
1) creating a community is not as easy for many people as it may have been from you and your self-proclaimed "co-founder" status. it requires time, effort, dedication, reliable people, and one thing I do not have: extra journal codes.
2) it is way too much effort for my desire to simply make a random post a couple of times a YEAR about a local game.
3) the community seems likthe perfect place to do it, why create another community to serve the same function?
4) your arguement is worthless, moot, and totally off the subject.
...dude. WTF?
In another comment, Zanne gets a little snarkier and yet AGAIN tries to make phasmaphobic see logic.
This does not work. Phasmaphobic accuses Zanne of name calling and flame baiting, both of which he himself is doing. He also seems to have a problem accepting that Zanne actually is the co-founder of rpg_promo.
Finally Zanne throws up her hands and gives up, instead making an entry in her own journal where she expresses exactly my sentiments.
"Bitch, are you for REAL?"
Ahhh... question-dodgers, how lovely is the wank you bring us. ::settles in with a big bag of carnival popcorn::
EDIT> Zanne was such a lovely person and provided a full transcript of the exchange of comments on her journal fen. All hail. ^_^
EDIT> Gah. Forgot to link to the comments-disabled post. ^^;; I'm awake, really.
