Anime past lives?
Otakukin is, as far as I can tell, an lj community for people who believe they had past lives as anime characters. I won't go into personal opinions on this, but while perusing the community, I found at least a bit of wank going on.

Aninazerg decides she doesn't understand multiples (though quite honestly, neither do I, anyone got an explanation?) and after posting this in her own journal, upsets sirintegra.

This leads to Aninazerg leaving Otakukin in a huff with this post. And a bit of a threat that she's taking her friends with her (but her friends apparently disagree.)

Quite honestly, I'm still a little confused.

On the surface I'm following ("fiction" really is real, really, and they were there), but it makes my head hurt trying to go any further into the idea than that.

That said, were I going to pick a past life from anime, I want to be a random Tokyo bystander that gets blown up by somebody's psychic death ray. Just because.

Good lord. Usually annoying anime fans are usually "JAPAN IS PROMISED LAND" types, or insane fangirls/fanboys. I thought that there wasn't any of this spirituality stuff like the furry fandom. In general, I blame the furries. (joke, people, in case there are oversensitive furries nearby)

My holy book is a piece of merchandized crap created to sell plastic figurines and artbooks, written by an artist who probably does it to pay the bills and is thrilled to have a life where he get paid for being a gigantic geek and writing out his fantasies. Great work if you can get it, especially if the series hits it big. Next post: the Reformed Church of Harry Potter Ascendant?

Back on topic, I wish I understood Aether/Void better though. I used to not believe in absolutes, but after seeing the raw power of Nothing and it's touch... even my normal "see things from all sides" code of ethics has been truly challenged. Thus its my goal to know more about possibly fighting the Void and keeping a tight control on Aether in the form of aiding Leena's invasions into rare, rare, rare world variants that offer little to no consequences for a whole population being made uniform into one (anime) feminine whole.

I have read this three times already in a vain attempt to make some sort of sense of it. All I can conclude is that she's going to use massive spirit power to stop something from invading a world inhabited solely by women and making them one.

Sadly enough, my first thought in response to that was "I bet that there's a porn movie like that somewhere." ^_^

And I actually get the multiples now. My only question is are they reincarnated anime characters too? And if so, what happens if you get all the charactes in an anime show reincarnated into you? Do the directors use you for the live action version? ^_^

Ooooo-kaaaaaay... Let me see if I can understand something that's sometimes impossible to understand...

There are people who believe they're the reincarnation of anime characters. For that to even make sense, the chars would've had to die before they were even born.

(This is something similar to the whole were/otherkin/starseed thing, but we're not dealing with reincarnated cel drawings, but animals (weres), spirits (otherkin) and aliens (starseeds), so I guess we've got more of our foot in reality - well, as much as is possible for those whom some would deem oddballs regardless.)

I notice a large number of you are multiples. Not to say I'm completely uncomfortable with this, but I absolutely refuse to talk to each personality as seperate. If I have a tea party with you, I'm having one with all of you, I'm not making five or more seperate dates for each side of you. Not that this should bother you, of course. Perhaps if I ever become a shifter of some sort I can understand it better.

I can understand that. It doesn't matter how many personalities you're packing into your psyche; when one takes centre stage, the others are still there, and frankly, even someone like myself wouldn't make five separate dates for each persona when it's still the same body they're all using.

I have seperate LJs, AIM handles and emails for us, not to mention patterns of speech, ideals, and many other things change when they are front

O.o;;; He's got 70+ people in his psyche here too. Reminds me of the whole "Sybil" (woman with a buttload of personalities) thing here too.

Basically what sirintegra is asking is that we treat every one of his personalities as seperate entities (even though they're all using the same body) as individuals, and to accept that what happens at any one time is the work of one or more of his personas and he is not to be held accountable (or something like that - I don't get this either) when he says/does something stupid.

Reminds me of those criminals who blame their actions on a seperate persona in their psyche.

Dude... And I thought I was a suitible candidate for nutjob status with the whole were-fox/tiger thing. I've been out-nuttered!!!

How on earth do people come up with these 'beliefs'? Hey, I've dreamed I was in the odd film or two. But sweeties, just because I dreamed I was on the Titanic doesn't mean I'm Rose DeWitt-Bukater. It just means I watched the damn DVD one too many times. And possibly, that I'm a sadarse.

People like pictures of furry characters? Whatever. People want to think they're reincarnated faeries or dragons? Hey, at least it has a basis in mythology. But cartoon characters? Oh, for fucks sake, people!

Uh... let me see if I have this straight... these people believe they are anime characters in some way. And, for some of them, being one anime character isn't enough, they have to be more than one.

I'm not sure if these people are in serious need of help, or if this is just some desperate game to make themselves feel "speshul" compared to the rest of us poor fools that are forced to live in the real world.

I used to be a friend of sirintegra, but when this whole, "I really AM Integral" bullshit started, I had to say goodbye. It had kinda bugged me when I first met her, but then she got hardcore into it. I mean, it's fine to be really into a fictional character - but they're just that. Fictional characters. You simply cannot have been one in a past life, and their entity cannot be living in your body, because, plain and simple, they're not fucking real. I don't care who's beliefes I'm stepping on here - not real is not real, and anime characters are not real.

Wow, how timely or something. I just got this email yesterday, which I had to delete without even answering, because I couldn't think of a way to answer politely.

You see, for the past years my friends and I have Role Played Digimon on the computer. But about two years ago some girl came on claiming Digimon were real and she had one. The whole thing took off from there, and almost everyone (young and old) believed the digimon and characters were real. Now, almost two years after this, she's still acting it out and pretty much RPGing the characters. The result: a lot of people are getting hurt and relationships broken. But myself and a few others know that its not real and are trying to prove this so the pain stops.

So the reason I e-mailed you is for evidence or advice. You translate japanese into english and work with some of the companies that Digimon was involved in, so I beg of you, please help me in this. The only major otakukin experiences I had had (before the Great Clue-By-Fouring) were related to (of all things) chocobos; I have a spirit-companion by name of Boo who apparently thinks I am mom-chocobo and knew some folks online (from one of the alt.fan.dragons channels on DALnet) that were chocobo-kin. (This should have been clue-by-fouring #2--especially since an ancient protobird or early bird, Avimimus, exists that is very chocobo-ish. Sometimes I wonder and had wondered if Squaresoft hadn't tapped into something "real"--something I wonder more, seeing as other "game worlds" also have chocobo-ish birds including a fictionalisation of certain parts of my life/lives)

Oh, man, if somebody reveals their secret past life was as a Unicorn Jelly, I am totally going to die of the happiest aneurysm ever.

Is everyone saying these people are off their rockers because some of them claim to be multiples...or because they believe they are anime characters...or both?

I'm going to assume the second option for the sake of my head, and because I do happen to think D.I.D. is real in some cases.

Dude, the sad thing is, my best friend and I DID used to think we had past lives as fictional characters, although we were 11 at the time.

I'm not sure whether I'm more conforted or scared by the fact that our delusion was apparently not unique.
