He wanted you to tell him if it got here.
Abaddon shows why he has such a vast cult following of supporters and denigrators with the following flame-war inspiring posts:

In keeping with his usual no-one-is-paying-attention-to-me-at-the-moment whining and I-must-chop-up-everyone-else criticizing, he makes a post in which variously popular HP RPGs are compared to composers, filmmakers, and authors of note. And I think he somehow manages to call Nocture Alley a bunch of wandering Jews.

Said post may be better understood by catching up with the background: Anyway this is why I don't follow your silly RPGs in the first place.

This inspires a long and involved series of flames from Aja. She gives prior examples of times when Abaddon forgot that for some people it's just a game.

Potterfen, how we love thee and thine vitriolic flame wars and occasional complete dissociation from reality!

Now that, my friend, is wank. That is wank refined to it's essence; undiluted, pure, unsullied wank. Brings a tear to your eye, doesn't it?

I guess now isn't the time to remind everyone that this is the guy who logged on to an IRC chatroom, posed as his own fangirl, praised himself to the skies, and dissed the rest of us. Man, if only fandom_wank had been around in those days.

but popular stuff regularly sucks
[info]purplepopple
2003-03-28 05:27 am UTC (link)
I don't know about this case but ripping on popular stuff is important because for the most part, the teeming masses of masturbating people are too stupid to even figure out where to shove the dildo. IE, they like crap. They should be mocked. They should be trampled. Then the creators of said material (HPP, Anne Rice) should be induce to induce the flatulence of love their supporters in their blind stupidity put out. Kitsch, popular, so often the same in fandom. That is why we have recs.

(Also, why is it when I post about fandom things, do certain people need to vindicate their opposing opinion without actually mentioning that it was my arrogant bolshieness who started this debate? It is so hysterical.)

Is bolshieness a person or an adjective or something else? *feels stupid*

To comment on the wank, this guy just oozes arrogance. He so desperately wants to be a BNF. Does he really have a vast cult following of supporters beyond those he makes up? (the above posting of him as pretend fangirl is one of the funniest things I have ever read on fandom wank).

This reminds me of a story . . . *sits back in her chair and ignore the groans*

In the Monkees fandom--on the outer fringes, I'll admit--there was this chick named Sammi. She used to claim all the time that she was Peter Tork's friend and he was her online AA sponsor and she'd drop his name all the time. One time she supposedly cut her thumb so bad it hurt to type (but not enough to keep her off the comp.) and she made a big production out of emailing every list and asking if anyone knew his email to let him know what happened so he wouldn't worry about her. *stifles a reflex eye roll* Turns out that not only did she NOT know him in the way she claimed, but that he'd been trying to get her to stop contacting him. (Which, thank God, he finally did.)

The point is, the people who boast so loudly (and do things like lie) to make themselves look popular rarely are. If this dude pretended to be his own fangirl it's probably because he doesn't HAVE any.

Which makes it all the more hilarious. :-D

The sad thing is tha the THINKS he actually has, not only followers, but FRIENDS even. Mostly those "friends" are made up of people too nice to hurt his widdle feelings by telling him what a whiny bitch he is most of the time and point out to him that his presence in the fandom is tolerated primarily for the mocking-behind-his-back, because his fis are overblown sucky drivel and his opinion of Himself is outrageously arrogant. He's also more than a bit of a misogynist, which is a bad, bad thing when you're in a fandom primarily made up of smart, smart women.

Shakespeare was much more of a popularity-whore hack than Wilde. (Not that Wills wasn't all kinds of spiffy, but he deliberately wrote for popular appeal and to make his patrons happy.
