More Dragonriders of Pern movie wank on the horizon
Y'all remember the first DRoP wank post I made about a month ago? It's getting ready for round two with the appearance of Scriptor, Ireallyamascreenwriter/director, really really. (Scroll down to the last post and onto the next page for that last one-- I admit my suckage in not knowing enough HTML to make it skip straight to the pertinent posts.)

See scriptor (who is all of 20, according to her profile,) proclaim that she is a Great and Powerful Screenwriter who's been to film school and everything!

See me mock-squee over her credentials and have the pleasure of seeing her miss the joke. I'm not proud.

See scriptor declare that Pern will thoroughly kick the ass of Lord of the Rings, and people WILL sit through 4 hour Pern movies once she educates them properly!

See scriptor declare that those pesky studios had better not cut out scenes or condense storylines-- or else!

See fans agree in big red letters because when your letters are BIG and RED then they're IMPORTANT.

See Anareth say, "Er, are you quite sure you've thought this through?"

See scriptor proclaim that she has, that she knows the film industry inside and out, and she's been through hell and back, and that it will go exactly as she says or OMGHERLIFEISOVER!

It hasn't really erupted yet, but since I just told her that hanging her self-worth on a movie that probably won't get made and almost certainly won't get made by her is probably not a Good Thing.

Well, it's nice to have dreams. Or medication. Whichever.

As you can see from my name, I am a scriptwriter.

Aw, that's cute. Call me Wankor. As you can see from my name...

All the nurses at my hospital read Anne McCaffrey and they want someone to make the books into movies.

Am I the only one who read that and thought, "Ah. In-patient psychiatric care"?

Now that you mention it ...

Do mental wards have net connections?

Actually, that is a question I can answer! The time I was in a mental hospital, I got online for a few minutes. It was only long enough to change the nurses' bookmarks to gay porn though...

Unless there is some sort of emergency within the ward, it is rather hard to get to the computers.

**snerk**

When you're well enough to do that, then they should let you go home.

That would certainly explain a lot if they did.

When I saw her screen name, I read it as Scrip-Tor, and I imagined her as a 50 foot tall evil robot.

My goal is to make the best Pern I can for the movies, or help whoever is already doing it.

I have to keep that goal alive or my life will crumble.

Her enthusiasm could have been helpful during the whole Pern on WB fiasco. Where was she then? Unless she's one of those film students who turn up their noses at the idiot box. She suggests combining DQ and Dragonsong into one film, and then thinks people would sit through the resulting confusing mess of main characters and plotlines? Yeeeesh...

That's what I thought. That one Decepticon who can't stop yammering about his spec treatments, sure that his agent will call any day now.

To me it sounds like a Masters of the Universe character. One of the later ones who never made it into the toy line because the show got cancelled.

You never know, they might use it for the current incarnation.

Pretty calm so far, alas.

The basic situation reminds me of some chick we had on a SW list of mine who claimed that SHE was going to acting school and was GOING to play Future Mrs. Vader, even after Natalie Portman was cast. She threw a big hissy fit over that, and soon faked a car accident to win back our sympathy after we laughed at her.

Oh, yeah, know what that's like. In my fandom, one in every five people is a Future Disney Animator. Even some who're in college for other things or dropped out.

I sorry but I've been through hell and the only way to survive is to stay optimistic.

You know, I would have thought that someone who claims to be a writer of any description would be able to, oh I don't know - write?

Not to mention, that seems a rather blatant 'poor little me, you're not being encouraging enough' to me.

Oh pifft. That's not necessary for the scripts. The actors will just mumble or change the words around anyway, bastards.

Nobody who abuses the poor exclaimation mark like Scriptor does should be allowed to write anything. Ever.

I can just see her Pern movie:

F'lar: "We must Search just the right woman!!!! She's here F'nor, I just know it!"
F'nor: "Well, bro, I don't know. Plus, that Holder is pretty obnoxious....wait!!! Who is your dragon talking to?!
F'lar: "It's HER!!!!!"
Lessa: "Get away! Psycho Dragonriders! Get away from me!!!!!"

It's so cute and naive and dumb.

I think they serve things like her as appetizers in LA.

The whole thing becomes much funnier when you replace the word Pern with the word Porn in the entire rant like I used to do by accident when I saw the books on bookshelves as a kid.

But even a porn flick would probably think twice before using a plot scrawled out by 20 year old young-adult prodigy SCRIP-TOR.
