teh elite strike again
Are you a pop-lover and have been feeling blue due to the lack of an elite community for pop fandom? Well OMG turn that frown upside-down and join pop_upperclass! Go to vote_upperclass and fill out their "survey of doom"!

I just want to know if it's a requirement to be a fan of all the pop things that take up a big chunk of the survey, like The OC and Britney.

Oh my god, did you look at the membership banners? There are special banners you can only use if you were one of the original members and everything. *dies laughing*

52. Any last thoughts?

Yes.

Is your wank glittery, shiny, full of silicon and/or a regular on MTV?

I'd also like to point out that if you *hadn't* heard of The OC, you could simply read about it in any of the other wanna-be-leets' surveys and fake it. But I suppose that wouldn't be in the properly elite spirit.

So you have to like The OC and be knowledgable in it in order to be considered part of the pop upperclass? Because there's something that has DEFINED modern popular culture. *rolls eyes*

Did anyone read the latest survey filled out on that list? My favorite was her answer to question number 51.

51. Backstreet Boys? I loved them, they started my backstreet boy phase.

Does that make some kind of sense to anyone here? Because it's beyond me. I guess I have to live in a land where Kelly Clarkson makes "great music" to understand it.

Oooh, spelling errors in the survey. That just says "elite" to me right there. Or at least "l33t."

Why does it seem to me that one could replace Backstreet Boys with New Kids on the Block and The O.C. with Beverly Hills 90210 and produce my early teen years all over again? We didn't have any Britney or Christina though...wait, I forgot. Tiffany vs. Debbie Gibson.

I'm just glad LJ wasn't around in those days.

Back then I would have been a member. At 14 nothing was cooler than being one of the elite! And heck, back then I could have answered all the questions right!

Right now though, I wouldn't do well. I like pop just fine, but Christ on toast, have these people even SEEN "OC"? It's not good. I got through about 6 minutes before I said to myself, "When the hell did Orange freakin County become the "cool" center of the universe???"

But I guess "Beverly Hills, 90210" was already taken. Though they could have thrown "The next generation" on there and done just fine.

I was born without the "able to distinguish good from bad music" gene. Although I do hate most of Creed's songs with a passion.

You don't need a 'weed out the bad music' gene to know Creed is bad. You do not even have to be sober to know that Creed is bad.

I have to admit to a certain curiosity about what they talk about behind those friends locks though it's probably not nearly as amusing as I imagine it to be. I filled out the survey. I wasn't nearly as snarky as I wanted to be.

I'll consider it a black mark on my soul if they let me in.

Betcha $5 they're talking about Britney's new-ish naked magazine cover and Justin's new video. That's what everyone else in the pop world seems to be discussing. They're just friends-locking posts so the peons can't see their opinions. Oh wait no, because they all have journals and share their drabble with everyone else anyway.

The point to this community? I mean... IS there one?

There's nothing there. I got an invite to join and be one of the "original" members so I joined long enough to see the locked posts and the 17 posts that were in the community yesterday are filtered so even members can't see them. I figure it's the two idiots who came up with this idea making their plans or something. *shrug* Stupid and lame, but I wish there had been stuff there for me to cut&paste for here :)

Does watching the OC make me one of the pop elite? Even if I watch it for the regular fist fights, rampant eye candy, sudden pieta imagery and, of course, Peter Gallagher's amazingly vast eyebrows?

I thought of filling out the survey for cheap amusement, but all of the fucking ANIMATED ICONS made my brain spasm and I fell on the floor kicking and spitting in an epileptic fit for a good fifteen minutes. Perhaps I had a better time that way, in the long run.
