I think this is more sad than funny, but it's still wanky:

UMJ, a charming lad with a simply stunning vocabulary, posts the 50 REASONS NOT TO WATCH POWER RANGERS: NINJA STORM on a . . .

. . . wait for it . . .

Power Rangers board. Immediately after this really LONG missive, liberally sprinkled with several variations of the word "fuck," bushwacka666 posts a response, point-by-point to the original, though not nearly as long. Several short responses later, Mega Voyager posts another point-by-point response that's just as long and just as profanity-laced as the original.

And then UMJ reveals his true mission—salvation.

"You fucking fuck heads. After reading my story you still don't understand how bad power rangers really is. I went through all this so I can save you. Save you all from the horribly horribly bad show Power Rangers. But I see you all are too stupid to see why the show is so bad. Damn dumbasses."

How wonderfully noble of him.

I haven't even gotten to the next three pages; what can beat that, after all? ;)

I figured with a title like that there had be some 'funneh' in the post.

I was so wrong. I gave up after he went on about how 'Power Rangers' was historically inaccurate.

Actually I think I burst a bloodvessel in my brain when I read that....

Yes, because a show with teenagers transforming into spandexed superheroes who jump into giant robots to save Tokyo America from the threat of intergalactic monsters SHOULD STRIVE TO BE AS HISTORICALLY ACCURATE AS POSSIBLE!

Jesus.

There are no adequate words...

I got as far as Zordon and the "gerbals" before I lost it completely.

I didn't read all his 50 reasons either, booooooring.

But the anti-gerbal rant? Quite funny.

But I skimmed down to the defenders of PR, and his responses to them which were funny.

Heh, the best part is that all his "historically accurate" ninja information comes from playing the Tenchu games.

Ninjas live by two completely different damn codes. Kill by stealth, live by honor.

"Live by honor; kill by stealth" is the slogan of the games. It says it right on the backs of the boxes. Earth to guy: Put the PS2 controller down and go read a book!

That's probably the best summary of wank like this I've seen.

I'm not a fan of the show or any variations, so maybe that's why I found all this quite amusing.

"You fucking fuck heads."

He amazes me with his massive, creative vocabulary usage. I'm currently trying to fight the urge to go over to FF.net and find his "fic", and either leave a crispy, insulting, signed review...or just report it since it's like, a list, right? Isn't that against their TOS?

My very first fandom, wanked! I should cry, but I laugh. Such is life. :-)

Roughly seven years ago, when Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers was in its second season or so, I had a Prodigy account (remember Prodigy, that old ISP?) and they hosted many bulletin boards, one of which was a Power Rangers one.

Talk about flame wars, old-school-internet style.

"Power Rangers sucks!"
"No, you suck!"
"No, Power Rangers is for babies!"
"If you don't like Power Rangers so much, why are you on this bulletin board?"
"Because Power Rangers sucks!"

And, of course, we had a regular who was certifiable, the every-fandom-has-one fangirl who is as fanatical about her fandom as she is a huge, scary embarassment to said fandom. Back in the days when EVERY fan page was hosted by either Angelfire or Geocities, and Prodigy automatically posted your full first and last name with every post... and I had this friend named Patrick who actually snail-mailed fanfiction to me, quite possibly before the term "fanfic" was coined...

Ah, those were the days. Some things never change.

Oh my god, that was every flamewar I ever saw way back when (I feel ooolllldddd). Except replace 'Power Rangers' with 'X-files', and add in occasional 'MULDERZ G4Y' remarks.

To which I replied, "Dude. Nobody is listening to you."

Didn't work as well as "OKAY!!!!!!!!!" but ehn, I was young and I used 'dude' in an unironic manner.

How about Power Rangers: Niggaz Attack. It’s about five black gang members are chosen by G-Don to destro ythe evil Vicelord while still having to deal with every day black issues like drug addiction.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: G'BLUH?!

50.) First off there fucking ninjas and they wear every fuckin color in the damn rainbow accept for the color that they are suppose to wear: black.

49.) Most, if not all, of the time ninjas attack at night. Tell me why you will never EVER see a damn night show.

48.) What’s up with all these “hmphs” and “hiyahs” and “AAAAAAHS” and shit. All this damn noise. There damn ninjas for god damned sake! There suppose to not be able to make a fucking sound!

47.) Everyone knows ninjas are fucking mammals, but the power rangers are monotremes. For god damned sake!

46.) Ninjas fucking fight ALL the damned time, the fucking show shows them sitting around and fucking talking and stuff instead of fighting sometimes!

45.) The purpose of a damn ninja is to flip out and fucking kill people. The fatality rates suck, not nearly enough fucking corpses are left after they attack! And they don't even fucking flip out right!

Damn this show is stupid!

I love the smell of Sentai wank in the morning.

I wish I could buy that bat that Shurikenger uses. Then I smash the shit out of people, and sing into the other end! (I'm talking about a baseball bat. And yes, he does sing into it at one point. And he uses it for his attack, which involve flaming baseballs and lots of Engrish.)

See, that rant *has* to be a parody, doesn't it? I got down to #39 on his List of Reasons: "Power rangers truly ended when Zordon gave his life to destroy all the evil in the universe. After that they were just beating a dead man with a stick. Reason 39 has been dedicated to the memory of Zordon." There's no way that could be meant seriously, is there?

At any rate, I'll have to make myself a new icon: "This icon dedicated to the memory of Zordon."

Heh, I'm checking out a few threads in the "Fan Fiction" section ... and it turns out I'm not the only one who thought of an "Ultimate Power Rangers" revamp. Y'know, to start from scratch with the original five Rangers and set up the American versions' origin so that it's not as cheesy. My ideas for it were vastly different from theirs, but it's interesting to see that someone has done something with that idea ... and spun several seasons out of it.

Which is kind of depressing: isn't the fact that there have been several different seasons and revamps of Power Rangers the reason why the franchise is lukewarm at the moment?
