Yet another furry wank...
I don't normally try to find the wank on my very own friends list, but here it was in all it's shiny glory...

Okay, TheFerrett is one of those people who has an audience on his LJ, he knows it, he posts to it and I for one think he's smart and intelligent and funny... he also seems to document the weird shit in his life a lot better than most other people. Hence this post concerning a time when he was approached by a furry at a con. He uses the word Puppafucker to describe this lady, is that a valid word in the furry community? Nothing to do with the wank I just wanna know.

So people try to ed-jumicate him that furries are "not all sex fiends"

Then TheFerrett posts a bit more on his opinons on furries having to deny their sexual tendancies and how inanimate objects become fetishised. "If I came across an organization arguing that people who sell produce at Farmer's Markets aren't all actually fucking their vegetables, I'd certainly start examining my broccoflower more closely before cooking it."

This results in more educating preaching educating and the first anonymous post I saw.

Then comes yet another post from TheFerrett which can be summed up by the quote "Don't get pissed off at me because I'm misinformed. Your number-one publicity agent's a group of total psychos, and they're spreading the news as far as they can." Which I think is pretty much a fair point, for a given value of fair of course...

See everyone make epic wanks

Furrydom is like being gay, in a way

And to prove some people have a sense of humour a direct breaking od Goodwin's law

There's so much here, mainly from the people trying to convince everyone else that a) their point of view is the valid one and b) "I'm mature dammit!" Personally I'm coming down on TheFerrett's side... sorry furries, get better spokespeople ;)

TheFerrett even says in his original post that not all furries are sex fiends. Can these people not even read?? Or don't they bother?

His post was hilarious though. One of these days I have to make my way to a con. The opprotunities for wank seem endless.

Oooh my. They've never learned that wanking doesn't precisely help their position, no. I have friends on and offline that are furries, and I've yet to see them go to these ends yet about it.

They merely point out that these are misconceptions created by a number of furries even *they* find offensive, give a few examples, and no more.

Invariably, someone has to compare furrydom to anime fandom. Sort of a way of going, "You think we're sick, yeah, well... uh, um... LOOK AT THESE GUYS!"

Bugs the shit out of me, I tell you what. Sure, I dressed up as Guu for Halloween. Doesn't mean I went home that night with a boy dressed as Hale.

Exactly. I hung out at a convention this weekend as Sumeragi Subaru, with my best friend as Sakurazuka Seishirou. We posed, laughed, had a good time, but we definitely didn't have sex when it was over.

Wellll-l, considering that entire movies have been made about how sadly obsessive the anime fandom can get... it's hard to argue with the wretchedness that the very depths of this fandom can attain.

But do they have cute attention whores guys/girls in revealing outfits at their cons? I think not. ;)

[obviously, the entire idea of judging everyone in a group by its worst/most extreme members is stupid. I'd hope people would learn that early on, but it seems few do.]

As odd sexual practices go, I don't see any harm in dressing up as a meerkat or pangolin if you don't mind paying for the dry cleaning. For one thing, it's probably safer than extreme spike heels or asphyxiation. The real wank comes from the incessant and hilarious factional infighting. For example, I'd likely never have heard of the activities of the 'furvert' faction of the fandom (fffft!) if not for their very vocal furry detractors - Burned Fur comes to mind.

Doodz. Forget the furries (who should just be the dictionary definition of "wank", after HP, of course), I think I love the Ferrett, for this:

The "Freaking the mundanes" is the silliest, dumbest, basest bit of fandom made flesh.

Wordy McWord, yo.

LOL, yes, I found that line amusing. It reminded me of one of my more interesting SCA experiences.

I was at a camping event this past July and my friends and I were taking a grocery run. Since we were in SCA mode, we went grocery shopping in our garb. This makes it really really easy to pick out the other event members out and about town, anyhoo. As we were checking out there was some strange man in garb at the front of the store playing a video game. He saw us and started singing "freaking the mundys, freaking the mundys," apparently thinking we'd find him hi-larious. We just looked at him and went "dude, you need more zinc in your diet."

but yeah, people that purposely freak out the mundanes should be dragged out into the street and beaten with a log-o-beef, unless of course they *like* that. They definitely give the rest of the world a bad picture of a minority group.

What I love is that the furries keep coming back to "flawed" media portrayals of their thing as condemnation of everyone who doesn't like furries.

Which, y'know, sort of completely ignores the fact that he based his statements on PEOPLE HE MET IN PERSON WITHOUT TV BEING THERE.

Ah, furrywank.

*nods*

There's this big difference between seeing something on TV (which has a percentage of fictitious material) and seeing something in the flesh (or foam as the case may be).

I mean, the "I've seen it in real life with my own two eyes" type is more likely to be believed than the type who gets all their info from the "reliable and unbiased TV set".

*thought that CSI episode was so unreal that it should've been animated for all the reality it was presenting*

Theferret rubs me the wrong way. I've seen too many with some talent come to believe that said talent makes them some sort of 'net god who deserves worshippers and can thus rain scorn with full confidence his bullet takers will leap to his defense.

I'm not saying this description is Theferret but by gum he's closer then normal

Really? I didn't think he was particularly overbearing at all. I mean, he just posted a real-life story of his on the, let us say, more interesting member on the furry community he met at a Con. And then a bunch of furries all but climbed over each other to start pretty much, yes well, insulting him. I honestly think he handled it w/ a great deal of maturity, considering the less than calm circustances.

And he's talented, but I don't think even he think he's some sort of 'net god. There aren't that many people who reply to his every day comments.
