I present to you, the Pointlesswasteoftime.com forums.

There's a parody list, called Fifty Reasons Why Lotr Sucks which I find great.

People take this seriously on the forums.

Very seriously. With long incoherent posts.

To which the forum regulars respond: "Show us your tits!"

I hate you so much that the burning emotion of that, mixed with the general stupidity of the average LotR fanboi that comes and registers for a verbal beating these days has caused me to resurrect this thread from the Cyper-Virtual Graveyard.

Seeing as how the average response these days is about as entertaining as you never responding past your original tirade on Tue Jul 22, 2003 @ 9:01 pm, I will continue arguing with you.

Show me your tits, you big fatty.

Wow. I'm speechless.

The 50 reasons are cool, but the guys who hang out on the forums are humor impared. They're trying to shoot fish in a barrel, but all they have for ammunition is dick jokes.

What the....? Wha...?

I'm speechless. How can people take that list seriously? The thing screams "parody"-- it might as well have a big neon sign flashing "This is a parody (you morons)!"

Come to think of it, even that probably wouldn't stop the stupids from yelling about it.

I think I prefer to believe that all those indignant posters are in on the joke, and they're just helping to perpetuate it. Yeah, that's it.

This, ladies and germs, is why I staunchly believe my fandom can hold its own against the HP plebey plajuristik flame wars any day. *grin*

It's the only appropriate response, really. There's simply nothing else logical to say that will penetrate the wankers' minds, so why not beat them by force of sheer randomness?

Meh...

I never thought the '50 Reasons' was all that funny to begin with. I know it's a parody but a lot of the humor seems downright boring to me.

I'm sure I had a point somewhere.

Shouldn't that have been wanked six months ago? Y'know, when it was actually active and relevant?

That said, as a pwotlurker (all your tits are belong to us?) I like to think the winner of the Miss Stupid competition of the USA is a young boy who devoted a webpage to answering each and every one of the fifty reasons... which he typed out by hand (poorly and with various errors.) Cut and Paste, anyone?

Well, wank doesn't go sour with time. Or whatever.

So as long as the material's still there, it's fine. :D

I post in the PWoT forums as [get this...] Irk. Would you agree that the best stuff in the forums and best posts aren't really in Dr Oxford? It's just the place David set up so that all the Matrix and LoTR and Eminem fanboys wouldn't infect all the other forums. This is why everybody is making dick jokes and not much of anything else - there's no point in really arguing with the fanboys, so everybody just fucks around really lazily in there.

There's some good discussions in Movies and interesting debate in Hitler's Brain. What I like about the forums is that you can carry on a conversation AND make jokes AND insult people stupidly and nobody really gets angry about anything. It may seem juvenile at the outset but it's probably the most well-adjusted community I've found on the internet due to its anarchy-like rules. You jump in and you swim or sink. People rarely take things personally. nothing is taboo. Everything is stupid.

It's my happy place.

I think the only really dangerous part of the pwot forums is the penchant to run your mouse unsuspectingly over something and end up with goatse or worse as a popup.

I used to post a bit back when this was teh wank!1 to be in (I was a horrible little siv0r fangirl), and ridicule the lotrfanboy/girls who took the article so seirously (and spammed the movies and books forums with their "50 worsely spelt reasuns y lotr duznt sux0r!!!!1").

Now I'm mainly in it for the articles (especially all the new Matrix stuff) but the poetry and fic boards amuse me the most - though you're right, Hitler's Brain comes up with some really insightful stuff, sometimes.

Nothing is taboo, and that's what's cool (and the insults flying around are prolly why I'm still suck a lurker - too ikkle and shy to be playing games with the big scary pwotmastahs.)

It's not too hard, though I'm a PoE veteran and thus have developed a thick candy shell for that sort of thing. When I first came in, I didn't recieve any hazing at all. If you just slowly sink in, make relevant posts, and don't look like you're trying too hard to always be funny, you'll do fine.

I came in during the recent Stupid Newbie Invasion, right when a bunch of other people were coming in, and the PWoT people were able to distinguish between people like me who wanted to stick around and learn how to play, and people who just wanted to spam and make trouble.

They're a fun little bunch. Just don't make introduction posts or anything like that and jump right in, acting like you were there right along. That's how it works.

All hail siv0r!

So...the local equivalent of the Prancing Pony boards?

Gold: The Stretchy Element.

The ring, which is seen to be at least two inches in diameter at the beginning to fit the polish sausage-sized finger of Sauron, suddenly fits Frodo's child-sized finger later. I guess this movie takes place in a world where rings magically change sizes on their own.

Yes. Because it's not as if the ring is MAGICAL. Or like any of that occurred in the books.
