In the spirit of the last post . . .
If anyone ever wants Usenet wank, few newsgroups can compare to alt.music.monkees.

The backstory is pretty simple: It was once touted as "the friendliest place in cyberspace" and two of the Monkees even posted there back in the mid 90s. But in the last year or so it's become a magnet for all the disgruntled whackos who've been kicked out of every decent, moderated forum. The oldbies are long gone, now, and at AMM the nuts can't be removed, which accounts for the cesspool status it enjoys today.

Amongst the Linda vs. Sarah/Jan/Jennifer/Samantha threads you'll find paranoid ramblings about who's f**ked (insert band member's name here--usually Peter Tork), trolls flooding over from other groups and posting threads about scrotums, and every now and again the rarest of all: the on-topic thread.

It's wank that comes with a terrible price, though: the sanity of anyone who goes there who isn't insane to begin with.
