Is there a law that covers this? Should be.
Since my latest fandom obsession is CSI, I've been reading the CSI boards over at TWOP. So as I wend my way, delighting in my obsession, through the board dedicated to the character Sara I stumble upon

This argument is between a non G/S shipper (Lizbet), and another poster who may or may not be a Shipper, but really digs Sara. (So do I, for the record, I so relate to her temper.)

Lizbet mentions something about Sara's idiosyncrasies during a discussion, as far as I can tell, regarding her relation to all the other characters. Coolbyrne asks that she explain what parts of the character she feels are idiosyncrancies, Lizbet rambles a while on the whole Ship vs. non-Ship thing, but doesn't answer the question.

Lizbet decides to back out of the argument, stating "But I'd also rather be a live coward than a dead hero. If I was on a road in Iraq and someone started shooting at me, I'd duck for cover until things cooled down."

Read it here, folks. Page 11

Ahahaha.

"I know people in Iraq."

"I know MORE people in Iraq! And they have it harder, too. Also, they agree with me."

That's the part I swear should have a law. Comparing an internet debate to being in Iraq. Yeah, cause G/S shipping or non-shipping is /that/ important!

OMG HOW CAN YOU NOT SAY THAT G/S IS THE OTP?

I must say that I agree with Maggie there though. Sara Sidle is getting written worse and worse as the seasons go by. She's my favourite CSI, but lately she's been quite a bitchy brat. Especially during this latest "Bug Grissom for the promotion" story arc... there's nothing like a grown woman pouting and whining to endear her to the audience.

I can't really say, since I missed so much of Season 3, much about the recent writing of Sara's character. I was annoyed with her a bit, on the promotion thing. But then, I've been annoyed with her in Season 1 and 2, as well. I like her bitchiness, because I relate to it. That recent scene where she says "You know what pisses me off?" And Nick says "Lots of stuff?" I died. Because I can so see my best friend at work saying that to me on any number of occassions.

Wish I hadn't missed so much of Season 3 though. I think I was working a lot on Thus nights. Then again, it's only because with the demise of Buffy, I was without a TV obsession that I started watching CSI religiously. (I know, I have issues.)

Yeah, Sara's bitchiness is usually because she's a bit weird... like in earlier seasons it was basically her against the other super-sensitive, lets-take-this-case-personally CSIs. In many cases, it's actually helped her do her job more effectively than the others. How many times has Catherine screwed up a case because she can't separate her personal and professional lives?

It's just that in this season, she's become downright crazy. Just because someone else gets assigned to a case and she's not, there's no need for her to start bitching a litany of mistreatment and woe to whoever else will listen. If anything, that's going to do more to cost her the promotion than anything else.

I did also laugh at the "Lots of stuff?" line. That was the greatest, especially coming from Nick. :D

I will freely admit that a *lot* does piss me off at work, and I do bitch about things I don't see as fair. Probably, to more people than Sara. Sara mostly just bitches to Nick, I have a good seven or eight people I use to vent with. Poor them, actually.

I wonder if I should work on that?

Hmmm, CSI changes a life?

Nah....

Sara Sidle is getting written worse and worse as the seasons go by. She's my favourite CSI, but lately she's been quite a bitchy brat.

... Lately? I've been watching first season eps on Spike TV lately, and she had this exchange with Nick the other night:
Sara: "I'm sick of working so much."
Nick: "A man is -dead-."
Sara: *in an exceptionally put-upon voice* "I'm </i>tired</i>."
Hate to burst your bubble, but she's always been a bitchy brat. n.n;; They just may be emphasizing it lately.

That's just why I like her though. She's got so many different sides to her personality. She can be petty and bitchy or compassionate to a point that isn't good for her.

Very much like myself, in some ways. I can see complaining that I'm tired after constant work, no matter how important my job is. And it is, actually, in it's way. People depend on me for their health and safety, and I know I was a raving bitch last August when I worked the entire month with just 2 days off...one Saturday and one Tuesday.

Tis why she's my favorite character.

*nods* And in season seven, they decided to go ahead and make Catherine a whiny, obnoxious, self-centred brat too. Great.
