Groban Wanklet
I'm sorry if I'm spamming, but these boards are loaded with wank, and reporting it is the only revenge I get. Feel free to tell me off.

Entertainment Weekly gave Josh' new CD a bad review. A devoted Grobanite wrote in to verbally bitchslap them, with a rather amusing violation of Ebert's Law.

Oops, I hadn't read the whole letters section when I posted about Val. Here's Connie's letter "i read the review of Josh groban's Closer CD and I have to say at least you are consistent! I don't understand why your reviews of everything Josh are so negative! To give a C+ to an album so beautifully constructed is like throwing dirt at someone in a white dress just because it looks so clean! Shame on you!

they titled her letter "Oh, Groban Up!

Good going Connie!

The rest of the messageboard lines up to cheer her on, mostly in one line with a great many exclamation points.

Meh. "They're just jeaaaaaalous."

Between this finger-wagging "Shame on you!" person and the water-bottle-stealing granny, this fandom is looking rather matronly. ;)

Yeah, it sucks to see something you like getting a bad review, but ultimately who cares if some random reviewer doesn't like it? 'Course I haven't read the review, but still. You can't take reviewers that seriously. They're professional opinionators. Chalk it up to differences of opinion, suck it up, and move on.

I didn't think it was possible, but the Grobannies seem to be challenging pop for the wankiest music-based fandom out there. Heh. And it's even funnier because they're combining the Pseudoclassical-Music-Elitist Wank with the Popstar-Sexobject-Fangirly Wank! I love it!

The fact that you ALL out wank the indie music fandom says a whole FUCK of a lot, I think...I keep thinking that we AREN'T the wankiest ones, then shuddering at what you guys have to be going through...

Okay, and laughing at.

*grin* Then again, never in pop have I had to deal with "OMIGOD THEY SIGNED A RECORD DEAL MY LIFE IS OVAH!!11! SELLOUTS!!six11!@!", so I, too, have been known to count my blessings. It's the flavor of the wank that's different, I suppose (though I'll admit that spooge from a wanker on a steady diet of the Justin Timberlake vs. JC Chasez wars has a nasty acrid taste that I'm not at all fond of).

What makes it BETTER is that they're all "bitch, are you for REAL?" type quotes...

And, oh yeah. These poncy little New Yorkers could COMPLETELY beat up your made-up pretty boys...

I know! I think it's because these two make such great supercilious bitch faces, and just naturally lend themselves to that kind of quote.

And I dunno, man. Yours have that sort of half-starved hipster chic aura about them: it wears a pair of shredded corduroys nicely, but generally isn't so useful when the punches start flying. Mine, on the other hand, are forced by the Evol PR MACHINE!!11! to build all that teenie-attracting muscle, and synchronized dancing? It's like martial arts...in a way.

Eh, eh, eh...I give you the video for "Someday", wherein the Strokes get into a fall-down bitchfight with Guided by Voices...remember, as a rule, indie boys got beat up during high school, even if their daddies owned modelling firms. So, they're prepared...

Has YOUR band ever beaten up another band on film?

They beat up a bunch of GI Joes in the "It's Gonna Be Me" video. Although they did lose in the end, they put in some pretty decent kung-fu action.

Love the icon.

And for the record, my crude, offensive, theatrically homoerotic all-boy band can kick the ass of your homoerotic all-boy band... with a flamethrower (http://herzeleid.com/en/gallery/*/till/display/1/3).

My friends in the UK and Australia raved and raved about it when it was first on there and I was so worried that BBC America wasn't going to show it. I'm a little surprised they showed it here so fast and released the DVD in the North Am. format, but I'm thrilled.

I also think BBC America is reshowing them Saturday nights until like... January if you happen to be home one of those things.

Cambridge Spies, BBC miniseries about (real life) Cambridge students who were recruited by the Soviets to spy for them pre-WWII and into the 1940s. Incredibly well written, well acted, and generally sexay. Two of the spies were openly gay (thus the canon gay), of the other two one was incredibly neurotic and one slept his way through Europe before ending up married to the other straight one's ex-wife.

Seriously, you couldn't make up a better story.

I've had to listen to only a small portion of one of his songs over and over at work, as it's part of this continuous loop tape we have playing on the TVs in the electronics section. I wasn't impressed. Granted, i'm not into that kind of music anyway, but to me he just seemed to be singing loudly without much sense of tone.
