The Time Has Come For Those Who Are Wanky To Stand United

It's Christmas. The word of the week in 15minuteficlets is "cookies". cschoolgirl writes a ficlet about Wolverine and Rogue (X-Men characters for those who aren't familiar with the fandom) baking gingerbread cookies. Seems innocent enough, right?

Rabid X-Wankers arrive on the scene. Accusations of plagiarism spring forth.

~X-Wank Summary~

Anonymous Troll #1: Two people writing about Wolverine and Rogue baking cookies. What are the chances? You obviously copied this story from Terri!

cschoolgirl: "it's christmas, if you'd pull your head out and look at the calendar...these stories have neither the same tone nor the same conclusion."

Anonymous Troll #2: It's not about the cookies damnit! She wrote a story about Wolverine and Rogue baking GINGERBREAD SHAPED LIKE TEH X-MEN and three days later you wrote a story about GINGERBREAD SHAPED LIKE TEH X-MEN. Don't you see the connection? You copied her story!!!11!!

Anonymous Troll #3 Terri: "I wrote the cookie story. Let me preface this by saying that I spent yesterday at the MVA, am awake at 5:30a on a Saturday, and have not yet had coffee, so please excuse me if I come across a tad cranky ;) Plagiarism is never a nice thing to be accused of, and usually, even when I've seen copies of things I've written redone verbatim or with the exact same, very detailed, setting or idea, I don't fling that accusation at the person because, while not at all likely in many cases, I suppose that it's not *impossible* that someone would come up with the exact same thing on their own, and I'm by nature a benefit-of-the-doubt kind of gal. And besides, I've seen some people in W/R accused of plagiarism on the basis of far, far, incredibly far less, so I try not to be one of those hair-trigger paranoia types. But, having said that, I do have to admit that seeing this made me go 'hey!' - it showed up a few days after my story was posted to a list that I believe you belong to and while you may not have read it, the circumstances and similarity were enough to cause the knee-jerk 'hey!' reaction in me. And no, before, ahem, 'anonymous' gets their panties in a twist, I'm not saying that it caused that reaction because it's a Christmas fic, or because it's a Logan-and-Marie bake cookies fic, or because it's..."

Zzzzzzzz. Oops, sorry. What was I...? Oh, yes! I was posting the X-Wank! There's more.

another_troll: "You are SOOOO not from Montana. Definatly not cool enough to be, cause we Montanans may be 'simple folk' but we know the difference between 'coincidence' and outright stealing."

Anne: "You people are complaining an awful lot for a 15 minute ficlet that doesn't even fill my computer screen. It's not even a full story, for crying out loud. Get over it."

It's such a cutsie little wank, isn't it?
