Does anyone not like Ron?

Such a simple question. Such a... stupid question, really, to be asking the HP fandom, where there is no middle ground (apparently) for your views on the loveable/detestable sidekick: Ronald Weasley. It is like the War On Terror: You are with 'em, or you are against 'em.

snow-"I know this isn't a debate thread but I'm going to KICK YOUR ASS"-flake is definitely one to look out for. Why, she is even getting into discussion of phallic symbols ("Look at the brooms in the beginning of OotP. It's obvious that Harry has the better broom.")!

Some more points of interest:

"No, you don't have to read all five books again. I said it before, and I will say it again: It's a matter of how everyone interprets the books and how their personality influences their opinion."

"If I say something criticial about Hermione or Harry, I expect one of you to come in their defense. I would be surprised if you didn't, but don't get upset when we do the same for Ron." Ie. RON IS MY BESTEST FRIEND IN RL AND HE WOULD BE VERY HURT TO KNOW YOU ARE SAYING THESE THINGS.

HarryNZ then comes in with "He's not REAL. He isn't going to be offended by ANYTHING anyone says here. He is a FICTIONAL character, in a FICTIONAL book series. He's NOT your friend. He doesn't need to be defended."

Sarah728 then gives an explanation: "IMO the reason a lot of people get upset by the "bashing" is because they may relate strongly to Ron (or another character) and take criticism of that character more personally than perhaps they should."

But don't fear! Xerox is here to save us with fake statistics! I'd say that 99% of the people who don't like Ron a) ship Hermione with someone else and Ron is in the way and/or b) think another character (usually Draco Malfoy) is more worthy of being Harry's best friend and resent that Harry chose Ron," finishing off with "At least non-fans of Harry and Hermione can actually keep their hate in the alloted threads for the most part, which Ron's non-fans have proven to be incapable of at all."

It's not as wanky as it has been, previously, about Ron, but still.
