_gashes is defriended by doused_in_gin. Rather than shrug her shoulders, like most people would do, she posts a long rant about it. She assumes the defriending was because doused lists anti-gay as an interest. (One wonders why _gashes friended a person who had anti-gay listed as an interest, but to be fair it's possible that it was added after she friended her.) _gashes is *especially* pissed because she hosts doused's website, which *does* make getting upset over the defriending more reasonable.

The really fun part is that doused writes NC-17 Harry/Draco fanfiction. As a touch of revenge for the defriending, _gashes changes her website a bit. (The new sidebar is truly a thing of beauty.)

Doused has yet to post her reaction to the whole thing yet, but I imagine it'll be really very funny.

	Well doused doesn't seem to swift: not only not following the rules of the person who hosts you, writing slash yet being anit-gay (WTF?), and defriending the person who hosts your website. Uhm yea. (Reply to this)

I can't wrap my brain around the idea that this doused in gin person can be "anti-gay" and an active slash writer. The person seems like a politically conservative religious person from his/her profile, however, so maybe they rationalize it as being anti-mainstream-gay-culture but not "anti-homosexal" (there are many people on all points of the sexual spectrum who would vehemently argue that the two are absolutely not synonymous)... I don't know. Or maybe they became anti-gay after writing the slash... it happens.

*scratches head* Whoa. When did I get in the business of explaining other people's insanity for them?

BTW, while it was kind of funny, I'm pretty sure that what _gashes did to the other girl's site is very, very much against copyright and intellectual property rights law if D_I_G pays her for webspace. _gashes may own the web space, but by renting it out to others, she agrees that whatever's there isn't within her domain of use. It'd be legally tantamount to your landlord breaking in to your house while you were gone, changing your locks, and then drawing all over your furniture with a Sharpie.

Jesus, that revenge is sweeeeeeet. I am on neither of their sides. Although the revenge made me laugh my ass off, I felt kind of terrible. Yes, most hostees don't link back to domain, mostly because since their domain is part of their webaddress, they feel they don't need to. I didn't until I realized all of the other hostees did and hurriedly changed it. Of course, it is a bit...uh...strange that gashes reacted by being defriended without e-mailing her hostee about it first in a professional manner...

I pointed this out above, and so did someone else, but did anyone *else* notice that... "Me love you long time" is a quote from Full Metal Jacket, in which they were in Vietnam? And the hookers were *gasp* Vietnamese? I'm guessing they mocked it on an episode of South Park, and that's where

_gashes picked it up. *shrug* Plebians. XD

Aside from that... who the fuck *cares* if she's "anti-gays"? I'm bi, and I'm not offended. *although I do find her political views in and of themselves to be a source of ~~mirth~~ ridicule* Although it *is* funny that she's a homophobic slash writer. XD XD XD But, hey, anything can happen.

I just don't get why this

_gashes girl and her buddies are all like "Kill, rawr!" over it. O_o Defriendings happen all the time, and often without a whole lotta reason or vitriol behind them. *shrug*

At first I thought maybe someone could have hacked the girl's journal, but then I went and looked at it. You wouldn't know that she ever wrote slash, so my guess is that she decided to give it up because it conflicted with whatever religious beliefs she's been holding and was likely overlooking for the sake of writing slash and listening to Placebo. She must either be clueless as to what type of band Placebo is or she's still in denial.

Just so you know . . . here's the story on Sky, from someone that knew her: She started out writing a lot of Harry/Draco. Then she had some sort of moral crisis or whatever and deleted her journal telling all of her friends that they were horrible and bad for writing slash. She then undeleted her journal and returned all kinds of anti-gay. Even wankier than y'all originally thought, huh?

Just because I wanted to add a comment...everyone seems really flipped outta wack by the concept of "anti-gay slash writer," and though from reading the last post it appears this doused_in_gin person started out writing slash and doesn't now...I can see how a person can be a slash fan but anti-gay. Not that I am! ^o^ Big yaoi fan over here.

Just that, you see a lot of things in fandom that people are into that they would never accept in real life. That's why it's fandom. There are plenty of fics about murder, rape, bestiality, incest, shouta--yada yada, but that doesn't mean the author necessarily likes or accepts such things real-life. And considering how many of the aforementioned topics the Harry Potter fandom is happy to explore (especially the shouta) I'm sure she's not the only hypocrite running around.

I'm quite the hypocrite myself, btw ^_~

Oh, and not that I'm trying to defend her bitching off her friends or whatnot. That just wasn't nice. Though screwing with her webpage was a little unnecessary. Even if it is funny.

I don't know either of these two, and I'm not going to spend time reading either of their journals to try and get an idea about them, however, I'm a spiteful cow and I'm kinda hoping that little Miss Assuming ASS of U and ME _gashes has egg on her face by the end of the day. 'cause (a) there's nothing wrong in keeping your flist intimate (they're clearly not close buddies and so fecking what if _gashes is her web host? I don't invite my RL landlord to read my hard-copy diary, or even my appointments book), (b) listing something as an interest doesn't make you that thing -- I list serial killers as an interest, but I'm too lazy to actually be one -- (c) common courtesy linking? well, then, she should jolly well tell her nicely and not bitch about it to everyone else, at all (it's only common courtesy, after all), and (d) screwing with someone's intellectual property in this way, is just cheap and shows no style.

Of course, doused_in_gin might turn out to have a seriously strained and conflicted personality, which does allow her to be both a slasher and an anti-gay homophobe, how withhold linkages with spiteful intent, but... _gashes would still, to me, be just as bad, in her own special way.

Considering her (now deleted) too-long-for-Livejournal post about Teh Respect for the pairing and its characters, I think that having anti-gay as a serious interest (and considering her other interest, I don't think she is kidding) while writing Harry/Draco is a lot wankier than it would be with someone who never wanked about Teh Respect.

From another anonymous source, it's all true. Doused in Gin/Schuywriter/Filan/Jane (or whatever she is now) has gone through so many reincarnations and moral crisises in just the last five months, that it's incredible.

She was on fandomwank a few months ago for getting into an argument with lafeemachette over an awards thingy. You can find the wank HERE (http://www.journalfen.net/community/fandom_wank/215132.html).

Now she's bitching on the dracohermionecommunity (on Yahoo) about someone who responded to this wank on LJDrama and affirmed all the weirdness.
