Ciggies Wank?
I'm a new member over at fandom_wank. I've been following this community for quite some time although I've never really posted anything here. Anyway, here's one:

Heard of people wanking each other when it comes to RPGs?

I just love the Harry Potter fandom for this.

A mod of some 'canon' RPG posts a wank about a player who has just resigned.

Then, people start wanking each other on How Canon is Canon and how deviated from the canon a canon RPG can be.

I know. It sounds wanky already.

Finally, people take turns wanking the original poster of the thread, particularly on the subject of 'Does Katie Bell smoke?'.

HP fandom wank will never stop!!

I can't say a "canon RPG" sounds very interesting to begin with, though it would be interesting to stay around just to hear their ideas of what "canon" actually is. Remus/Sirius? Even though it would be refreshing to get a same sex pairing running around, I seriously doubt it would ever happen. Because in the end these are still considered children's books, and the parent wankage alone would be...astronomical. Which is too bad, but maybe in another few years they'll have a better chance :P

I am not getting the point of a 'canon' RPG. At first I thought that might mean canon thumping a la the Sugar Quill, which would make sense, I guess. But RPing one of the canon books? DUDE! Where is the fun in that?

Well, yeah, there's no fun in it, really. Like you, I don't get the point of RPing a book.

It's been done well. But not in HP fandom.

"And how was I rude? If you think telling one to "grow up" isn't rude then you're jaded.

I reel from the insult.

In a couple RPGs I'm in, the mods tend to create the journals for the game to avoid the very problem that this mod is having. By all rights, the former player can be wanky all she wants, but technically, that journal is still hers.

Oh, man. The stories I could tell about the good old Sunnydale Socks, if they weren't all friendslocked.

You could summarize. With flair!

Well, I could try. But it'd be a lot like trying to summarize every bit of canon from every incarnation of X-Men. There's so much of it, and it's so complicated...

Good wank! I don't get the point of canon at all. I mean, yes it's very good when J.K. Rowling writes it, and the whole HP fandom wouldn't be here if she hadn't picked up that pen and wrote longhand, but everyone gets their panties up ---and I am starting to see a fucking pattern:

That's not the way God wanted it to be.

That's not the way the author intended it to be.

That's not the way the world was suppposed to be.

Ah, who gives a shit? It's fun.

The ENTIRE thread disappeared! Hm... Smells fishy to me. Looks like some wanker is ashamed of his/herself.

See Obi-Wan Kenobi's Law of Ultimate Wank. But yes, does seem like the little wanker had the last straw put on them when they realized they not only got called on THEIR being the bad wanker, but did so enough to make F_W.
This makes me sad like raindrops, I LIKED those threads, they were interesting. When the OP wasn't involved, they were actually rather interesting discussions about canon.

Fandom Wank Corollary 2 (Regarding Cannabalization): If the deletion is done in direct response to F_W cannibalization, the wank increases by +1000 and the deleter is declared not only the loser, but also the Ultimate Wanker. (quoted from the link)

Looks like we have an Ultimate Wanker hanging around. :) Is it just me or is it true that most HP RPGs out there have wankers for mods and players? *sigh* I just love my fandom.

(It isn't back, my computer froze way back when the thread still existed)

Canon rp? The strange rules about ships? I think the mod is better off writing a fic.

As for the smoking, if the roleplayer wanted to keep it cannon and give Bell a 'bad girl' vibe she should have put Bell on steriods or other performance enhancers. Even a bottle of whiskey would have been better. Who cares about the morality of it, you can't compete and smoke. :\

Eh? You can't compete and smoke? In Quidditch, where all they do is sit on brooms and fly around all day?

I mean, I'm sure it's physically taxing to some extent, but certainly not to the point where smoking would be a hindrance. Olease.

Smoking lowers your lung capacity and stamina. Yes, they ride around on brooms, but think of sports like surfing and skiing. They may not be running around on a field, but they have to still use their legs to keep them upright, their hips to shift their weight around on the turns, and their arms to help with balance. Quidditch players have to use their arms to catch/throw the ball (Chasers/beaters) or use a bat to hit people. There's sudden turns, dives, and objects/people to avoid. It's a game that involves your entire body. If Bell smoked she would have a much harder time staying at a competitive level.
