Blah, blah, I just want to know who's playing Hephaestion.
IMdB Message Board for Alexander the Great (the Baz Luhrmann one)

Condensed version -

Person #1: Oh this is going to SUCK! DiCaprio and Kidman couldn't possible capture who Alexander and Olympia really were! *woe*

Person #2: What the hell are you talking about? You don't know shit.

Person #3: I can read ancient Greek, so there! And Oliver Stone would be way better.

Person #4: Do the words "Academy Award nomination" mean nothing to you people?

And then they start talking about respecting Jesus, so I stopped reading.

For the love of Christ's left testicle...that Ferdi-6 person makes me want to smack my forehead until my brains ooze out my ears.

but Ferdi admires Jesus! He thinks Big J is hot stuff, I'm sure this is all done in the name of Jesus' Left Testicle....I know it's the guiding force in my life, that's for sure...

I still can't quite understand why they're making a movie of that sucky book when there's the incomparably sublime Alexander Trilogy by Mary Renault.

On the other hand, I suppose better Hollywood ruin a sucky book than a good one.

Heaven forbid that Renault's trilogy see the light of Hollywood. Imagine all the furor that it will cause.

i.e "Alexander is so Gay!!!"

"No he is not! HOw dare you say such a thing about one of history's greatest and most straight man!! what is between them is pure frienship. People like you are the ones that defile things that are pure by nature."

No let Renault's trilogy rest for the time being although it is such a loss not to see it on screen.

Considering this american actors can only remain american, they will never make me believe they were ancient hellens for they look too superficial, artificial and boring.

only a direct descendant of the ancient romans could POSSIBLY do justice to caesar. and for maximum effect it should be filmed where caesar lived. without plumbing. in latin. really, the technology is a bit of a problem, but without cameras it'd be hard to make a movie, so.

oh my god, what a TWIT this person is. although i have to give him one thing: he doesn't budge a hair from his 'if you disagree with me you must know nothing about the subject' position. perhaps george w. bush, as the greatest conqueror/empire-leader of our time, should play alexander instead, as an ACTOR, someone engaged in a profession totally unrelated to alexander's, could never truly understand the greatness of world-conquering.

Sounds like F-6 is confusing writing and acting. Apparently the thinking is that the plot for Titanic was superficial, therefore Di Caprio is superficial. Sorry dude, that's James Camron's script, and represents his vision. Di Caprio got hired to look hot and snog Kate Winslet and he did a good job of it. That doesn't mean he's incapable of doing anything else.

Do you guys remember What's Eating Gilbert Grape? It's difficult for me to accept that Di Caprio is narcissitic or superficial after seeing his performance in that.

And of course after saying such a thing the person didn't exactly give any alternative over it right? Or did he now? I think I got lost somewhere.

I once got thrown out of a convention video room for laughing at that film, but really, what else can you do to it?

You haven't missed anything. It's not even so bad that it's funny. It says everything that Shatner is the best thing in it.

Man-- this is unfair because he's not a native-speaker, but Ferdi needs to bone up on his spelling/grammar before trying to pull the "i am educated adn smarter than u omg!!!!1" thing. Also, "I think the thing that bothers you most is that Alexander was not a woman. " O_O

*is pathetically squeeing at the idea of a luhrmann-directed Alexander film with "HOMOSEXUAL URGES" in the two line IMDB summary*
