Tolerance and togetherness, huh?
Something that has been going around lately... The anti-yaoi-ness. I’m sorry if this is OT (I have a nasty habit of that) but I’ve seen many yaoi fans say bad things about “their own kind” because of certain practices."

Own kind?

She goes on to well, basically sound like a martyr. Oh, and "squicked by het"? Well, if someone can be squicked by yaoi...

At any rate, this "plea for tolerance and togetherness" just sounds like a plea for spooge.

"This makes me a sugeified loser."

Well, at least you're honest.

As for the replies, it looks like many people agree with her. So, I didn't see any wank there, but that OP...eesh.

I think the whole point of her post was "Stop fighting, it's ridiculous", not "Pity me, I'm a rabid fan and people complain about me". But that's just me.

That's what I saw. But after seeing about 2 or 3 more posts following it all the same vein, I kind of gave up following what was going on.

To me, it's kind of like beating a dead horse. There are always going to be those that like it and those that don't. *shrugs*

Too bad the apparent plea to "all get along" is served up with a nice gummy sauce of character-bashing, heterophobia (so what makes it good for you to hate het, but bad for anyone to hate slash?), canon-raping pairing cuz of teh pwetteeeeee!, and basically, everything that makes yaoi fans look bad - all while talking about not making yaoi fans look bad.

Oooookay then.

As an assy footnote, I just have to say that hir default icon, with some sappy saying about "god bless those who suffer alone," is packed with some of the most unrepentantly whackjob villains I've ever seen. I'm talking burn-whole-villages-for-fun, kill-innocents-because-you-can whackjob. Granted, I am a fan of a couple of those, but that only makes me more ill over the fluffbunny "Awwwww, all the widdle psychopath needs is a huuuuuuuug!" twaddle.

UGH! I'm done.

Heh, I was thinking the same thing. Granted, I don't recognize them all, but Legato, Muraki, and Vicious certainly aren't the "omg poor babies they r just misunderstuud!1" kind of villains to me.

I'm definitely agreeing. Jesus, she stuck FARFIE in there. He's one of the biggest psychos I've ever seen in an anime.

Wait, I take that back. I almost forgot about Muraki and the head in a jar thing. *shivers*

Oh, and "squicked by het"? Well, if someone can be squicked by yaoi...

I've seen at least as many people call het "squicky", "pointless", or "boring" as those that have griped about yaoi. And if you add in the yaoi authors that feel the need to apologize for het when they put it in occasionally, and I'd say it's probably outnumbering the yaoi-bashers. @.@

Oh, dear. If that was supposed to change my mind about yaoi/slash fen who bash female characters for getting in the way of omg the bishis sexx0R, then I don't think it worked.

Yes, m'm. I agree with your self-analysis of you being a bad yaoi fan. Have a good one.

...especially after this:

I agree. I do hate her because she's female (and can screw up my yaoi fun) But the point was that- that is simply my perference and I or anyone with a similar perference don't deserve to be bashed for thinking that way anymore than you deserve to be flamed for liking the female characters.

Maybe it's me, but I can't see misogyny as just another "perference."

I never understood the automatic "I Hate her because she's FEMALE" thing! Especially from other females. Sure, there's plenty of females that ought to be disliked, but not for being female. I would think it takes more than that.

Riiiiight.

You know, I don't mind that she hates all female characters based solely on the fact that they have no dicks. I don't even mind the slashing two random guys because they're hot. At least she admits it.

As a matter of fact, I wouldn't have any problem with this whatsoever, and would actually agree with her, if it didn't seem like she was *encouraging* that sort of behavior. And, really - she handles it well, but I've seen several fangirls who *don't*. As long as she's too lazy to go and actively bash people, more power to her.

But I'm not reading her fics, that's for sure.

Yeah. Spooge it up, Yaoi community! Whoohoo!

There wasn't much wank really. It was just a huge emotional circle jerk. Someone made a plea for everyone to 'respect our opinions' and for everyone to 'just get along', but quickly descended into some posters showing exactly why there are people who do not like yaoi and yaoi-fans.

Very few saw, nor will they see, that they simply perpetuate their own bad press.

I made a lengthy comment. The moment I hit post, I knew it would fall on deaf ears, which disappointed me but then, I'm a new wanker. I've yet to master the ability to start a wank.

Now I am sad. Some people have Teh Wank, I am not one of them...[sulks]

At any rate, there were several more posts made about 'yay us, we just need to get along' but most people seemed to be missing the point. They were too busy defending why they shouldn't be bashed and in the same breath showing exactly why they should be bashed.

I don't see this as becoming a wanktacular event, but it is interesting to watch in a very...morbidly-curious-to-watch-the-ongoing-mututal-masturbation, kind of way.

And thus concludes my trip report.

I've been a slasher for years and even I wanted to lovingly set them on fire. Just a little bit. It's the only way they'll learn.

But to be fair, it wasn't something that came out of the blue. This was posted first, encouraging everyone to leap on some Person Who Didn't Like Yaoi.

Said PWDLY started out quite normal, then descended into stupidity very quickly, including the claim that only yaoi fangirls use random Japanese words. Plus she also has the bad habit of lapsing into n3+sp3ak to prove how yaoi fangirls speak, which is really, really annoying. :P Finally, she turns off commenting for spurious reasons and heavily edits her post.

Soon after that, the Yaoi group held the bukkake session.

(And please don't think me stupid, but what does 'sugeified' mean?)

Well, guess I was right to take the comm off my friends list.

Of course, if I'd been smarter I'd have done that the _first_ time someone went on about how slashers are oppressed, and we should troll the heck out of anyone reported as anti-yaoi. Not because I minded the post, but because I was the only one who disagreed.

Whoops, wanking, sorry.

I was part of that debate on the side there. The only reason why I responded, really, is because I like both het and slash pairings, yet, this is seen as a bad thing. :( And it wasn't the fact that she was anti-yaoi or whatever, it was the fact that she was backing her 'points' up with stereotypes and when someone disagreed with her, they were 'flaming'. Not to mention anti-yaoi fans can be just as bad, if not WORSE, than yaoi fans.

And I like how she said that the 'don't like, don't read' policy doesn't work because people don't put up warnings. Because we ALL know it's the yaoi fandom's fault for the stupidity of a few authors! Let's not mention that I've been going around FF.net for a while in sections like the FF series and I have yet to find a story that doesn't have a warning for slash themes.

I thought taking the comments down was sort of funny, as I've seen someone do the exact same thing with an arguement that wasn't that bad, as it could've been much worse than it was.

*Wanders off somewhere*
