Sue-author wank from a different source
Developing classic "author's-friends-and-sockpuppets-wank" on Deleterius!

You have no character. And karma will get you for being meeeeean!

Includes the "Are You a Flamer?" test! Feel the sarcasm.

And there's some queries about TOS violations, too.

Edited to add: Aaand, the author herself turns up.

She and Haldir seem to be destined to bring forth a special child. She and Haldir become the ancestors of Socrates, Confucius, Cleopatra, Merlin and William Rufus (son of William the Conquerer).

You have GOT to be kidding me.

What is William Rufus doing on that list? The others were all famous, accomplished, etc. but William Rufus?

... Wasn't Merlin just a character from the King Arthur legend? Or was there a "real" Merlin that the legendary version was based upon?

Granted, Haldir is a character from a book that bills itself as a legend, but everyone else on that list of descendants actually existed in real life. Even if it was still sort of impossible for them to be interrelated.

Wait.

Cleopatra was related to Ptolemy, right? Not Alexander?

Or am I all wrong and should I go back to school?

You are Bronwyn Morgan ap Powell.

And all the Katherine Kurtz readers say, "bleh!"

Her voice, post-sex, can reproduce Elton John, Ed Rollins, Aerosmith, Beethoven, etc., perfectly. And by perfectly, I mean "with full orchestral accompaniment." Yes, her voice can produce the sounds of violins, trumpets, drums, double basses, pianos, and multiple singers ALL AT THE SAME TIME. She gains the ability to use music as a weapon (long after I thought that she was doing so, believe me). Oh, and she gets to have really loud sex with Haldir in the middle of a battle with Orcs and not be noticed by said Orcs.

This story won an award?

*sporfle!*

I love how the trolls declare us all high schoolers, with the assumption that high schoolers = immature idiots. Made me feel lovely, that. I'm a high schooler, I'm allowed to say that, because I know intelligent people that age. How is it some adults forget that fact? Are they implying they were immature idiots? (Not arguing with that-- but they're usually not so eager to say it straight out!)

And I thought the Haldir Mary Sue that was an Elf princess of an extinct line who left Valinor with a ring of power that was actually sword and was kidnapped and then deathly ill and then had amnesia and then remembered and then kidnapped again was bad.

Though the best is when her friends claim things like, "Well, maybe Tolkien would have loved it. You never know."

I'm over thirty... nothing wrong with teenagers
(Anonymous)
2004-01-09 07:21 pm UTC (link)
At least not as a class. I work with them day in and day out, and if I had a choice to work with teens or adults around here, I'd pick teens every day of the week and twice on Sunday. They almost always say "Please" and "Excuse me" when they come to the desk, and smile sheepishly when they say they need something. Adults just slam down a list and say "Do this!"

Of course, there are a few obnoxious ones that make you wonder what the devil their parents were doing when they should have been raising them, but like any other group, you take it teen by teen, and don't make vast judgments. (Including of adults. I take them at face value, too; I just don't want to work a desk with them.)

That said, they are still learning what works and what doesn't as far as writing goes, and the majority of goofy Sue writers are teens for that reason.

Honestly, if I was not at work right now and getting paid to do NOTHING since I have a brain and intelligence...I wouldn't waste my time here. Alas, I was bored and in need of some entertainment after my board meetings. The little children here have truly amused me greatly. I dare say I have not been so entertained in quite a while...

As far as imagination and originality, it's so hard to find these days. I wouldn't go looking here however...
