fw_deathmatch is no more.
[info]fw_deathmatch has been deleted.

The results for the latest round were released declaring [info]bohicamouse winner over [info]oulangi.

There was outrage. There were claims results were rigged [obviously, or else [info]oulangi would have been the winner - anyone who looked at the voting coulda seen that!]. [info]fw_deathmatch went on the defensive. Wank happened. Journal was then deleted.

It was shocking...bohicamouse managed to upset oulangi (who forgives me for everything...right?) And the comments were coming fast and furious, mostly furious, and we were wanking along and...it disappeared!

No, no, that's not the real tragedy of this all. The real tragedy is that I got a vote from elfy (may s/he be fruitful and multiply and wax and shine) and was finally on my way to being a member of the cool crowd, beloved by all. Then *sob* it went away. The dream was dead. Long live the dream.

Back in the olden days, in the early days of wank, the Romans used to splooge endlessly over the morality gladiator slashfic. The fact that it was actually canon (come on, if you were about to be sent into the Circus Maximus to face wild lions, you'd take a last chance at gay lovin' no matter how straight you were before. I'm just sayin') didn't seem to make a dent in the wank. The fact that it was all in Latin was pretty damned wanky in itself, or would have been if it weren't for the fact that Latin was pretty much the lingua franca of Augustan Rome. Anyway, back to my point, assuming I have one: it's a little-known fact that gladiators originated in the dark ages of Imperial Roman political wank, where everybody and their sister was sleeping with, well, their sisters, and claiming the title of Emperor of Rome. The wank was truly spectacular, especially during the Caligula years, and the mockers and pointers and assorted charlatans spent many a merry hour laughing at the wankage. They often congregated at local dives and spent hours mocking. But eventually, the mockery grew too great to be tolerated, and Emperor Claudius Vulgaris had all the offenders rounded up and sent to his newly built Coliseum to kill each other off. Initially, it was merely a mocking contest, with two new gladiators "nyah-na-na-na-na"-ing at each other. The crowd loved it, and things might have turned out quite well except that the mockers themselves demanded blood, and the reluctant emperor allowed them to start killing each other. Thus the proud tradition of destroying your own was started (it survives today, you'll notice, what with the whole devouring your own that F_W does.) But the wankery continued, and splooge dotted the ground in the gladiator pens.


Eventually, Rome fell and somebody wrote some stupid book about it and all that, and the wank shifted to Byzantium cause of the whole debate over who had the real Pope (cause everyone seemed to give a damn who got the tallest, pointiest hat.) What was the point of my story again? Oh, right -- the F_W Deathmatch is merely a modern reflection of that ancient tradition, only meaner and with more gay sex. So this is a sad day indeed. It's as if the Emperor had abolished gladiator matches for no better reason than it was [insert sarcastic voice] "cruel" or "inhuman" or "wanky."

Plus...I got a vote! I was feeling loved. Now no-one loves me! I'll never be cool.

Funny that this should happen after [info]zorrorojo loses, something no one ever expected. Oulangi must have been a distraction from the real reason Fw_deathmatch was created... to prove to the world that [info]zorrorojo was the undisputed Leader of JF. But It Didn't Quite Turn Out The Way He'd Planned. Now I just have to fit [info]rann into my theory...

Oh, and I have screencaps of the votes too. This could be very easily sorted out, you know, by just reinstating the comm and declaring [info]oulangi the winner.

I hope to god this is a joke, and that this whole post was done in a sort of ironic haha funny.

Because doesn't FW_deathmatch = Fandom Wank deathmatch?

If that's the case, this is perhaps one of the wankiest threads I have ever seen in my entire time perusing this journal. Fandom Wank has devoted many of its hours laughing at and poking fun of fandom's ability to take itself way to seriously (which is fine and funny), so perhaps everyone needs to be reminded that the same applies in this case. (Although even if this is another fandom's deathmatch), you are taking this "competition" way too seriously.

I realize that it may be unfair that the votes were "rigged" but forgive me for finding it rather funny that people are now taking screen captures and devoting a community to "righting this wrong". It's not like we're arguing who has one the noble prize, but rather "who is most popular" in a vote that appears to not even take into account whether a person voted twice - just how enthusiastic friends were.

Maybe I'm mistaken and then the joke is on me. But it's hard to read the tone into this, but those involved in the argument seem to be actually "outraged" about all this. To the point of wanting to prove that they are right. I would say "who cares" but obviously people do...

But why. What on earth does winning a deathmatch prove anyway...
