Ahhhh, IMDB. Wank breeding ground.
Hey, all. First wank here, and it's a doozy.

Randomly decided to check the IMDB board for Troy after I saw the trailer. And find the following.

Women stop plaguing blokes films, go watch your romantic comedies

man, i saw on this board people complaining about the role of women in troy as prizes. man im sick of women flocking to boys films. troy will be violent, lots of battle scenes. to be male is to like watching violent films. women should go to their romantic comedies. women flocked to lord of the rings and now with troy. its a double standard, guys dont go to chick flicks in record numbers, but you go to ours and no one cares.

In short.... Enter the wank

....is barring women from 'Boys Only' films part of President Bush's new "Faith and Morals" plan that's costing us so much money? Because it sounds crazy enough to be part of it. I don't know about you ladies, but if I were forced to watch nothing but romantic comedies, the men would REALLY see what war is like. Ugh.

I'm not sure who to laugh at more, the neanderthal troll or the hordes of women pissed off 'cause he thinks women shouldn't watch 'men's' movies.

*giggles*

And the best part is only a handful of people recognized the Real World Wank of "OMG! Liek Women as prizes?!?!?1!!1!" And the ones who do are wanking about the 'lack of amazons' -- now *theres* a major source of ancient feminine empowerment in the Iliad... *not* -- although the ones concerned about the lack of Cassandra *do* have a point... and it might not only be on the top of their heads.

*laughs uncontrollably*

Oh, my.

Sidestepping the appalling misogynstic part of this wank, because there's nothing else to be said but "stfundiekthx", I have to point this out.

Like I said, I do not even think about the women in the film, since I do not believe their role is all that important, except for Helen.

Um, right. Because Cassandra, you know, a fucking oracle and primary character, isn't important or anything. Nope, not at ALL, her prophecies are totally not at all pivotal to the plot. *facepalm*

Okay, this sounds like a guy who has had just one too many bad experiences with rabid fangirls. And is apparently under the odd impression that the reason he can't get laid has nothing to do with his total lack of social skills or intellectual capacity, but because teh girlz is all holding out for their one true love, Orli. Maybe he should brush his teeth, take a shower and stop using pick-up lines from pornos before he gives up on getting laid completely, though.

That said, I quite agree with this poor maladjuster 15 year old. What's with all you women? How am I supposed to enjoy watching "Titanic" and the way Jack beats up that, um, other guy with all you fangirls squealing over the whitest famine victim-looking bastard outside of James Marsters? Why can't I enjoy the violence of "Ghost" and the cool murders without some bint sighing about the love story and the damned Patrick Swayze? Why do I always seem to be sitting next to a lesbian who wants to 'make it' with Charlize Theron and Christina Ricci at the same time when watching "Monster?" Dammit, I don't have feelings...why can't ya'll respect that? Here I am, trying to be desensitized and all ya'll can do is be girly!

So...my proposal is simple. We create a new movie ratings system, and divide it into "B" for de Boyz; "G" for de Girlz; "GWALB" for de Girlz Who Act Like Boyz (cause everyone wants a girlbuddy like Encyclopedia Brown had, so she would be admitted to the movie); "BWALG" for de Boyz Who Act Like Girlz, cause they're loads of fun and will probably make snide remarks about the Terminator's choice of clothing all through the move, so they can come too...and so on. Feel free to add. So we could have a porn movie rated XXX-G/BWALG, cause that would be filled with lots of really...built men and you don't want the normal Boyz being traumatized by accidentally watching "Hot Steel Rods Stroking Each Other" because he thought it was a movie about Pittsburgh.

My alternative suggestion is simple: every movie maker will be required to make two versions oh his/her film -- one for the boys and one for the girls. The boys one will have all violence, all the time. The girls one won't have any. For instance, Lord of the Rings. In the boys version, we open with Frodo hearing Gandalf coming along. Quietly, he pulls out his hunting knife and creeps toward the road. Just as Gandalf is passing by, Frodo leaps, frothing and screaming, and stabs the useless old loser in the kidneys. And so on. In the girls version, the orcs and the riders of Rohan would fight it out by hugging and crying until everyone felt all better and the riders promised to stop making fun of the orcs for being so ugly, and then they all dressed up in pyjamas and did each others' hair and talked about how hot that Legolas was and whether Frodo and Pippin were single or doing all sorts of the nasty.

I think either one of these could work.

Well, if the women really are complaining about the female roles in Troy, then they obviously know nothing about history before the 1900s, so I can kinda see his point there.

As for the wee little girls sticking to girly films, well gee, I guess that means I should sell my Indiana Jones trilogy.

Children, will you please fucking realise that women (namely Briseis, as opposed to, you know, characters like Clytemnestra) WERE prizes in those days and that if said women start kicking all kinds of ass it will look stupid and it will look pathetic and it will piss the rest of us off.

argh

Just a quick question for y'all here. When you guys point out wank, do you intend to follow it up with more wank of your own? That's what you guys mostly do if you follow your own definition of wank. I'm not being rude just wondering about the policy here. Are you all mocking yourselves for wanking along with the original wank?

isnt having 2 sexes good because we both have different likes and dislikes.

And here I thought having two sexes was good because it allowed the human race to reproduce.

I must have totally missed the point about Troy then, because the casting (Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom, Eric Bana) is a freakin' dead giveaway about who they want to go see it.

I'm just sayin'.

Ah. Yet more proof that I am, apparently, male. *glances over at her close to 200 DVDs* Um... hmm. Romantic comedy. Romantic comedy... I think I own When Harry met Sally...

But even that movie would be made much, much better with explosions.

Ooh... fire...

(Yes, I have been told many, many times that I have a "male brain". Always by men. Who are astonished, just astonished that I like science fiction. And explosions. And guns. And porn. And dirty jokes. And hockey. And hate make-up, dresses, romantic comedies, and going to the bathroom in groups.)

Ooh... fire...

I do remember reading a review after FOTR came out written by this fan (who was obviously a real lady and not at all like you butchy beyawtches) Anyway, the lady was bitterly complaining that the book was a beautiful beautiful lovely thing and the movie was all wrong because it was too violent. This was the Fellowship. Like before Helm's Deep. I boggled. I remember asking her if she'd ever read the part about Legolas and Gimli's killing competition.

I've seen other femmy fans complain about all the time spent on the battles, too, although most of them have been rational enough to recognize that it was actually a part of the story.

I think I detect a molecule of validity floating around in the splooge.

Sadly, there are creatures out there like this troll, although not as confontational. When I was in high school I was watching a video at a friend's house with some guys who I'd just met. One of them gently asked if I wouldn't like to go away and talk to the other girls because the movie might get a little violent for me. IIRC, my reply was "shush, Van Damme just broke that guy's back!" or something of the kind.

To be honest, it wasn't that good a movie, but damned if I was going to leave before the credits rolled after that. At first they were uncomfortable, but soon that faded to a very pleasing awe.

*thinks back to numerous horror movie parties hosted for friends*

*looks at own movie collection* Let's see, violent, chick-flick, comedy, gross-out movie, comedy, horror, sci-fi, violent....

Ummm, since girls are only suppose to watch chick flicks and guys violence...what does that make me?

Because last time I checked I was definitely female...maybe I've grown a penis too since then.
