The Aftermath of the latest Anti-Yaoi Wank...
I will ask you VERY politely. Do NOT reply to those posts UNLESS you're extremely sure...

I hate yaoi and all of its fangirls!, version 1234567890!

I'm gay, did't you know it?! But then again, yaoi fangirls are SOOOOOOO retarded! (Cutie, you're generalizing. Not all of yaoi fans are like that. If you had half a brain you'd see it.)

Are you done with the DUH session?

I won't even try to reason with... "them" this time. They're just BEGGING to be wanked.

Meaning, fanbitch can scratch me, I can kick her in the stomach across the room.

Urge to kill... rising...

He can say what he likes about yaoi. But when he starts joking about animal abuse, that's when the little voices start telling me to smash him. Leave the cats out of it, asshole.

1) As a woman who went through something like THIS some weeks ago, I agree completely.

2) I think I didn't tell you before how much I love your icon, eh? Now I just did. Wanku Zoku San kills me. :D

1) *big hugs* I'm so sorry about the cat. That's terrible. People can be such assholes sometimes.

2) Thanks! I misremember who made it for me, but it was my first F_W icon, and I still love it to bits and pieces.

First one:

>>Yaoi... wow... never seen any yaoi anime that wasn't a total piece of shit. I know it's boyxboy made for girls, but God, what horrible character designs and plots.>>

So... you watch a lot of yaoi, do you?

>>If the characters in yaoi were actually male and female, the same fangirls who worship them would decry the stories as violence against women and degrading. >>

Goddammit, and me without a "Stop agreeing with me" icon. (must get one of them.) >_<

But that's a statement against the dumb strain of fangirls, more than anything, and against trite yaoi. Not the whole idea of it. But that's a distinction lost on most people.

The second one... I just don't quite know what to make of it. He pisses me off with the "I'm gay so I know everything" attitude, his ranting about words, his rampaging stereotypes (so you're righteous because you conform to the gay boy/fag hag set, but everyone else who does so is wrong?), what appears to be some weird form of racism (all yaoi fans are white? news to me), and says all yaoi sucks, but he watches it anyway and that's okay because of his reasons for it, but everybody else is an idiot.

If he applied the same logic to everyone else, he might actually have something there. But "I have good reasons so I'm cool, but you all suck" is just...moronic. Don't tell me why I watch YnM or Gravitation, you prick. You don't speak for me.

wank over.

What I don't get is how he can say, "I've never seen a yaoi that wasn't shit, but I really like Gravitation and YnM and Fake." Aren't...those examples of yaoi that are more than just hot boyxboy action? With real plots and, for the most part, solid characters? And he reads Fake for the cop drama... *LOL*

God, they need to release Ai no Kusabi and Song of the Wind and Trees. Good old school yaoi!

Butch: Society will never accept us; our love is doomed. Let's commit suicide.

Okay kids, time for some school'n.

Once apon a time, in the magical far-away land of Japan, there was manga. However, in this manga, there were almost entirely male-oriented stories and characters, especially the females. Female characters were dumb blondes to the extreme, and most women found that all "romantic" stories in manga and anime to be insultive. Unfortunately, no one would publish anything with normal female characters at the time, so another plan had to be formulated. Thus was born yaoi. All guy characters, and eventually, guy/guy romance. And guess what? It was aimed at WOMEN! Not men, not even GAY men, it was aimed at women, and it STILL IS.

Yaoi is a form of romantic storytelling without the dumb blonde with big boobs. In almost every situation you still have one character who is masculine and another who is feminine - yet they're both male. It is entertainment for women who are sick of seeing stereotyped females in stories, it is NOT meant as a representation of the gay community.

A Question
[info]eiviiaru
2004-02-03 10:21 pm UTC (link)
All right, since the topic has been raised, I'd like to ask a question. I mean it quite honestly, as it's an element of yaoi fandom which I have never entirely understood. In response to this statement:

Yaoi is a form of romantic storytelling without the dumb blonde with big boobs. In almost every situation you still have one character who is masculine and another who is feminine - yet they're both male. It is entertainment for women who are sick of seeing stereotyped females in stories, it is NOT meant as a representation of the gay community.

Why is it better to have a love story between a man and a whiny, weepy, irritating woman-with-a-penis than a lovestory even between a man and a whiny, weepy, irritating woman? I have never entirely understood the entire "if this was a female character, I'd hate her guts, but since he's a man who acts in the exact same romance-novel-feminine way, I wuv him and think he's adorable" thing that some fangirls have going, and I honestly don't understand why it's considered "more respectful." And why do so many fangirls rant about the "ickiness" of het when so much of yaoi is het in a funny hat, and apparently it was intended that way?

I don't want to come off as smarmy here, but these are honestly things which, as a poor het-shipper (and, er, a blonde), I simply do not understand.

I missed the part where he said the yaoi fandom was 'scary'.

I guess it must've been buried under all that 'I AM THE ALL-KNOWING GOD OF GAY SEX' thing he had going.

Also I doubt anyone is really cowering in fear of HP fans, this guy, while he made some good points, was just being a complete asshole about the whole thing.

Most anti-anti-yaoi ranting is caused by the simple fact that people are getting tired of being beat up about liking yaoi even when they share a hatred of the retarded 90% of the fandom. Hell, even when I try to defend my very moderate views on yaoi, someone has to butt in and say that all yaoi they've ever read is crap and it's all weepy men/women-with-penii getting fucked in the ass plus high sugar dosage. As in, I can't say much at all about my feelings on yaoi in public because of the great swarm of People Who Feel They Need to Address their Not-So-Informed Opnions to Me when I try to just say "hey, this is my middle-of-the-road view". And I'm not that social community-wise, a lot of these people are in forums and communities where it just gets annoying. This is a protected post so there's not much likelihood of a swarm of anti-yaoiers coming in and getting the carpet muddy just so they can tell everyone that they think yaoi is dumb. So, it's a nook to rant in, and a lot of like minds in one place, and that's convenient. Happens.

But anyways...

::GLOMP::

Lovely icon you're sportin' there. nn

Pro-yaoi Lena is driving me nuts. OP is annoyed with annoying yaoi fangirls, like most yaoi fans are, and she tells him he's a gay homophobe. And all the others jump on it like "See? This is what they're like!"
