Why Did She Say Thank You?!?
I don't like tattling on my friends, but in this case they really deserve it.

On this thread, the issue boils down to "She said thank you to someone I don't like and I'm darn pissed about it."

It seems that Voyager Angel message board owner Chris thanked Dakota and Anne Rose for making some avatars for her board. Since this is the Star Trek Voyager fandom, that action was of course met with a barrage of confusing hostility.

Several board members declare that AnneRose doesn't deserve thanks, because after all 'anyone can make a message board avatar'

Others respond with the obvious 'but others didn't, she did, and who cares anyway' argument.

This is met with the question "But why did she thank them today?"

When no one has an answer for the reasoning for the exact date of the thank you, Vanhunks repeats this question every three posts, for two pages, with increasing loud cries of "But you didn' t answer my question."

Then it's questioned whether enough people SAW the thank you, which makes one wonder how many would be enough, and enough for what, exactly, anyway.

Also notable is the accusation that computer hacking is the culpret when one of the avatars fails to load for an individual user. Gosh, I've never had to hit refresh to load a graphic before, have you?

The board owner finally locked the topic, and I suspect they'll all be happily flaming each other about something completely different within hours.

And indeed they do.

An update:

The board owner has now deleted all the avatars and is calling for someone to make new ones.

This has naturally been met with, you guessed it, confusing hostility.

Someone has also taken the opportunity to accuse AnneRose of "stealing" fic. Did she take someone's fic and post it as her own, you ask.

No, no one's claimed that at all. AnneRose is involved in a dispute over old emails sent to a public list (JCFicHaven at yahoo).

Former members of said list want their old posts deleted.

AnneRose declined deleting them on the grounds that she has better things to do than to sort through several years worth of email from a busy public list.

Yes, that is correct. They are fighting over ownership of old emails sent to a public list.

Wow, that was... hallucinatorily bizarre.

My question is: what the fuck? (/vanhunks)

The KJ posting on the linked thread would be the same KJ who was wanked for trolling GAFF and accusing everyone there of being AnneRose or one of her sockpuppets, would it not? (Though I think whether the troll was actually KJ or not was in question?) Leading to the "No, I'M Spartacus" fun?

KJ was not the troll...actually I'm willing to place good money that the troll then is the same person who posted this wank.

When I posted that wank long ago, I said that it had 'history'. At this point I have enough to write a book, tho I better do it in volumes, becuase it just. keeps. going.

Tis the wank that never ends...and it goes on and on my friends....

Ah, Trekwank... my first experience with the wacky world of wankiness was thanks to Trek. It's the fandom that revolves around the stunningly banal. I haven't seen much wankery since I stopped visiting TrekBBS, so this was like a nostalgic spurt for me.

No kidding. I didn't know much about the fandom itself, but... that about sums it up. "Fine, ALL avatars are deleted! This is why we can't have nice things!" These people have lost their fool minds.

Trek vs. Wars wank is some of the best, though... watching some of the "Star Destroyer vs. Enterprise-D" arguments was utterly amusing, and I suppose one of my first introductions to wank.
(Gotta love that, when faced with the fact that the Enterprise has the superior shields and firepower, the pro-Star Destroyer side always reverted to "Well Vader wud choke Picard becuz Picard is a WUSSY!!!11! Pikard NEGOTIATS OMGLOL!!!1")
(... Wait, I think I just revived a tiny bit of that nostalgic wank! It's alive! IT'S ALIIIIVE!)

Wow. That's stupid. That's so amazingly stupid that I can't find a word strong enough to describe it.

It is not hard to hold the door open for someone carrying a heavy bag, it is not hard to use please, it is not hard to smile and nod when a car stops to let you pass... But it's polite. Just as it is polite to say "thank you" when someone fiddles with a bunch of pics to make avators >.<

Don't people have any manners?
