Highlander Mary Sue wank...
Simply_Blah has a Highlander original character, Ankhesemamen. At first glance it seems like a fine character, but some 'mean' person in a Highlander rpg told her that Ankhesenamen was a sue. So she posts her little sue character at oc analysis.

She gets several posts telling her that yes it is a sue. To which she responsed to each. Things turly get wanky in this thread.

A wonderful bit of her defense as to why her beloved character isn't a sue:

"I did a helluva lot of research for Ankhesenamen and I even read a real book about Nefertiti (not a webpage)."

Tea?

Edit: Ah, now even darling Aol and Aol chat room rpgs have been draged into the mix. How lovely.

Daughter of edit: "Ankhe is not perfect. She is not angsty and she is not a whore. Her personality is not much like mine."
Dear ones I think her logic is not like our Earth logic.
As anyone seen my tea pot? It has run off...

Tea pot of edit: Things have moved to her journal where she seems to have picked up a supported.

Some dear one posted this on marysues, but since it is, alas, friendslocked, no links for you my lovies.

Hahaha, I wonder if was inspired by that Highlander novel about Methos in ancient Egypt. It was awful and I never finished it but the only part I remember was Methos getting information out of a woman by bringing her to the brink of orgasm and refusing to enter her unless she told him who she was working for. Good times.

All the Highlander official novels are eye-bleedingly bad. There's a stack of fanfic writers who do much better stuff.

And, damn, she beat me to posting this wank.

I read that book, it had its good moments, I thought. Plenty of Methos, and some Methos'n'Duncan - and what else does a girl want?

Holy Shatner. o.O Usually official stuff from movies/TV stays away from teh sex, unless it's just vaguely alluded to or covered up via a paragraph of flowery phrases or an "aftermath" scene or something... but... whoa.

I have that book.. I don't remember that part. *blinks* Looks like I'm digging it out now. Ah, and I'm probably one of the few people that owns all of those books, including the short story collection by the cast and such. (That one was a good one though.. Postcards From Alexa is very sad.)

Well while I don't think the character is a mary sue the author's diva-like attitude sure reminds of the 'wounded' MS authors.

Ankhe is not perfect. She is not angsty and she is not a whore. Her personality is not much like mine.

This has to be the single most unintentionally humorous sentence juxtaposition I have seen in ages.

That being said, I really don't find her character Suish at all.

Alas, I too did not think the it was a sue until a kind guest in my cave told me of her GJ journal for the character.

It is quite sad for the character could have been intriguing.

The only other Immortal I know of that carries a second sword is Methos. Most Immortals know how to use a sword and if they have been around long enough they pick up different fighting techniques. I would also imagine that other Immortals, like Methos, Darius, etc knew quite a bit of different languages simply because they would have had to learn the language of the places they traveled and adapted to their own homeland tongue as it developed more. There have been Immortals in the opera and those who have performed. It is possible for an Immortal to have more than one talent, just like people. Her talents are anything too outlandish and her painting does have limits. Anything other than Egyptian watercolors, she's horrible at. Several people have an eye for color and fashion, like Amanda and I've seen episodes where MacLeod invested his money in a bank and later went to claim it.

Therefore it is never the best idea to grab all of these skills and roll them up merrily into one person.

Also, this chick is annoying enough that even when given basic squat facts - "Immortals are all foundlings" and "Immortals are sterile" she harps on with lame excuses. I somehow doubt that breeding-obsessed deification-happy Egyptian royalty would have taken in a foundling.

Oh, Highlander. Your wank is immortal. (awk awk)

That whole thing at the end reminded me of this time, a few months back, when I tried to gently, and kindly correct some logical errors someone made on a message board. I was at my parents house, and ended up using my old AOL address, and the person wrote me back saying that she didn't have to listen to a word I said, because 'only stupid people use AOL'.

I liked the character description. However, I don't know how she'd not become a Sue in an RPG. In RPGs you're identifying completely with a particular character and concentrating on that one role. How many people can do that and not want to perfect their characters and have them become central to the story? If you're writing fiction, even collaboratively, the story takes precedence.

Granted, I've probably missed out on some good writing in RPGs. They just seem unnatural to me and I avoid them like the plague.
