The infamous elgato
This guy is the bane of teenies all over BSB fandom:

He runs the Backstreet Dirt yahoogroup, posts on popdirt.com a LOT and flames/attacks anyone who insults the BSB. I love a good flamewar but this guy thinks he's doing BSB fans a service by engaging in them. He has apparently been banned from posting on LiveDaily and DLS, and you can read his version of the drama in the message archives if you're bored.

Basically, people on LiveDaily trash him until their thread gets closed, the DLS webmaster takes shots at him on his site, and elgato bitches back at them all on his yahoogroup. They're all so up in a froth about it sometimes you'd think it was the end of the world.

Introduction
------------------------

I am so frustrated right now. I really am. But that's no concern of yours. However, several people are trying to spread false rumors about me. I just want to, as BSB would say, set the record straight about a few things, mainly some of the incidents that have occurred recently at DLS, Backstreet.net, Popdirt, and LD.

For those of you who are familiar with me, you already know this. For those of you who aren't, here's a quick bio. I am a huge BSB fan, 19 years old, male, in college, and lovin' life. I first became a BSB fan when me and several of my friends attended a Millenium concert. Being guys, we figured that it would be a great place to get a bunch of phone numbers. Ya know, a BSB concert with tens of thousands of girls. So while we were meeting the girls, we started diggin' what we were hearing. We liked their music. That night, I became a fan. After the show, I went and bought all the albums they had made up to that point. Since then, I have all their albums, been to all their concerts, have all their videos/DVDs, etc. You get the picture. I guess you can call me a BSB Fanatic.

For those of you who are familiar with my online actions, you already know this. For those of you who aren't, here's a quick summary. I am pretty ferocious. I cuss a lot. If a hater disses BSB in any way, I jump on them. You'll know what I'm talking about if you read the comments at Popdirt.com. Any Nsync fan, Britney fan, or fan of whoever that puts down BSB will get a piece of my mind. And it won't be pretty. Some moderators are upset at my use of the phrase `Suck my d!ck.' To me, a guy saying that phrase is as innocent as a girl saying `Kiss my ass.' But some people don't like it, so I'll try to refrain from using that phrase from here on out.

So here's why I am frustrated:

DLS

It all started when I began getting a lot of my BSB news stories posted on Popdirt. The owners of other BSB sites started inviting me to write up stories for them. The owner of DLS, ChrisCrazy, was one of them. Most of the BSB stories I wrote would end up on DLS, with one of it's other writers giving me credit. He (I'm assuming it's a he) invited me to be a DLS writer.

His invitation email said this exactly:

"You have no idea how happy I am that you wrote! After posting several of your articles yesterday, I was thinking "I should get this person to work for DLS", but I had no way of contacting you. We could definitely use you as both a reporter and a Verbal Cage writer. So basically, welcome to the team! I am very glad to have you with us."

After some encouraging from my roommate (screenname `Lucifer'), I took him up on his offer. DLS has a history of not doing background checks, though. Chris apparently read my stories on Popdirt but never read the comments. I always curse on Popdirt. I guess he didn't know this. So I typed up a comment in the `DirtyBox' that had a cuss word in it. He deleted it without giving me an explanation. Since I figured he knew that I cursed, I couldn't figure out any other reason as to why he would delete something I said. So I typed in the `DirtyBox'"Chris, this site will start to suck if you censor people and try to control them." Then he took me off the news team and banned me from the site. Still no explanation from him. So I went over to Popdirt.com and said that DLS sucks. Then Chris sent me a bunch of emails nagging at me about my language and how I'm a loser and whatnot. I responded to all of them, defending myself.

In one of his many emails to me, he basically tells me he banned me because he THOUGHT I might do something destructive and that he will continue to post MY news stories from Popdirt on his site.

Here's one of the emails ChrisCrazy sent me (thank God I saved these; they're evidence)

"All I did was censor your 'message' to Jannette on the DirtyBox cuz it was offensive. Your 'message' was on the DIRTYBOX, not the Verbal Cage. All the uncensored stuff belongs in the VERBAL CAGE. I deleted the ONE post you made man, that was all and then you go and say once again on the DirtyBox that the site is "starting to suck" and your reason, "cuz EVERYTHING is censored" ... ?? What is "everything"?? Your one post? The reason you were banned was not because I no longer wanted you to visit the site. Your banning was simply "damage control". I expected that you might be angry and start posting harsher things on the site any way you could. I had planned to simply ban you from the DirtyBox but then I figured you might just go and write in the 'comments' section on the newsboard or verbal cage. I didn't want a whole other public fight with someone, and that's it. I don't hate you, I just didn't appreciate your 'this site is starting to suck' after i made a big deal that you were now with us. You're a fairly 'well known' backstreet fan online and it was cool to have you on the team. i made it clear that we were happy you were with us on my blurb on the main page and then for you to 'kick me in the balls' like that was harsh. As for your news on Popdirt, once you send it, it becomes Popdirt news. You 'submit' it to their site... THEIR site. It's not yours so don't be expecting me to tell my reporters to not use 'el gato' news cuz it will be used. Once Popdirt tells me to not use their news, then i'll stop but why would they do that? And even if i did stop using your news cuz you asked me to, why would you deprive all the other fans of the boys of news simply cuz you're mad at me? Your banning was simply 'damage control', it was a precaution. POPDIRT news will be featured on DLS. That pretty much sums it up."

Then I wrote back to him saying where he was wrong, deleting stuff without giving me an explanation (MusicMan always gives me an explanation), banning me, etc.

Here's another email ChrisCrazy sent me, after I told him that my point was that if you feel I'm a bad person and that you need to ban me, then you're being a hypocrite by saying it's OK for you to still use my news. If I'm such a horrible person, then you shouldn't want to be associated with me or my thoughts in any way, including things I wrote. He responded:

"All right, you brought up some good points in your latest reply. Honestly, I see all this as more of a misunderstanding then anything else. I'm in no way mad at you, if I was it would show in this and the previous email. I need to explain myself a little better. Banning you from the site, as I said was "damage control". You brought up a good point, that I banned you because of something i felt MIGHT happen. When I banned you, I was thinking "better safe than sorry" and that's as best as I can explain that. I must also say that in the emails you sent me prior to the 'firing', you didn't come across as the same person you come across to me now. When you wrote the comment about sucking your dick and all that, it just made it seem like you were immature and all that, and because of that behaviour and because of the behaviour you've shown on popdirt, i thought you might react immaturely to the banning and start posting negative comments about the site any way you could. Honestly, you just came across as a different person... i hope you understand what I'm trying to say. Your 'suck my dick' comment and the 'this site sucks' comment were immature, you have to admit that. the 'suck my dick' comment more than the other. I COMPLETELY agree with you that I should have emailed you regarding the 'firing' and all that. I don't know why I didn't but I definitely should have. You are very right. I'd also like to point out to you that I had absolutely no idea what kind of respect you had for the site. I never knew you thought it was 100x better than Backstreet.net and I had no idea you promoted it or whatever it is you do. Honestly I had no clue. I don't get your comment about me saying that you're good enough for popdirt but not for DLS. DLS doesn't compare to popdirt as far as popularity goes. They have been around FAR longer than I have and I have tons of respect for MusicMan and his websites (popdirt, rockdirt, rapdirt). The only thing I said was that what appears on popdirt is news that is available for everyone to use. I have contributed news to popdirt before, and I have used their articles many times in the past. The few times I actually credited you on DLS for your popdirt articles was because i knew you checked out dls every now and then. This was all just a big misunderstanding in my eyes. I got a 'vibe' from you that you were the type of person to react like i thought you would. After all the shit i've dealt with in the last month, i simply just wanted to avoid a conflict. For the good of the site and for the people that visit it. I hope you understand that and I hope you can accept an apology from me, for judging you. I can't say that I don't believe what you did was immature though, because i truly believe it was. Keep in mind that as an employee of DLS, you kinda represent us, and when you write that the site is starting to suck, it just looks bad man. For you and especially for us. Please write me back man, I will 'lift' the ban but I don't know if you'll want to come back. I'd also still like to see you write in the Verbal Cage because I think you added a nice new mindset to it. It was also great to have another guy on the team cuz there aren't many that like to admit that they're fans. Please, I'd like to have you back on at least the Verbal Cage. I hope we can put all this behind us and move forward. Please, feel free to write back. If you're no longer interested in working for DLS, I understand, and I'd just like to thank you for the breif 'period' that you helped us out with news and columns."

So he invited me back as a DLS writer. Less than 24 hours later, he sent me this email:

"Hey there elgato, Unfortunately there is no place for you on the DLS staff right now. I know this sounds stupid after I just told you that we wanted you back, but 'stuff' came up and, as of right now, I think it'd be best if we let things stay as they are. The word 'suck' is very common with you I guess. I praised you man, I thought you were cool but you're two faced man. You called me a hypocrite? Look in a mirror. That's all I got to say to you. A lot of people don't like you, rightfully so. I don't need your immaturirty on the site and I certainly don't need the hypocrisy. I thought you liked DLS, what's up with the 'DLS sucks' comments man? See, this is why I banned you from DLS in the first place. You seemed like the type of person to go and write shit like that 'DLS sucks', etc. and I'm damn sure that if I never banned you, you would have done it on my site man. You did it on the other site, why wouldn't you have done it on mine? I ain't banning you this time, but if I see anything from you that's negative, it will be simply deleted and you will be banned for life. Take it easy boy."

Because of all this, Chris and I don't like each other. Yet I think it's very amusing to find every last one of my Popdirt articles appear on DLS.

Anyways, I figured I'd stop going to DLS and I became interest in LiveDaily.com, the BSB Forum. Same thing happened there. I joined the site under my screenname `elgato' and spoke in my usual language. I wasn't aware that you couldn't cuss on that site either (I'm so used to Popdirt, ya know?) So the mods there banned me. So, I got my BSB news from other sources.

I am in college. My roommate, screenname `Lucifer,' likes BSB too. We are two different people with one computer in our dorm room. When I got banned from LD, we could no longer go to LD cuz they banned our computer's IP address. One day, something happened. I don't know what. And Lucifer tried to go to LD, and it let him in. We just figured we were `unbanned' or something. So Lucifer started posting more BSB news onto LD to share with other BSB fans.

This Is Just Horrible

OK, someone is just sick. Yesterday, a rumor started on Backstreet.net's Backboard saying that Leslie Carter died in a car crash. That same person said it in DLS's `DirtyBox' as well. All of them on DLS, including ChrisCrazy started getting' worked up over it, assuming the rumor was true. Once they found out it was a sick joke, instead of blaming themselves for being stupid enough to believe a rumor like that, they started saying that it was probably ME who started the rumor. My roommate, who was at DLS at the time, informed me of this. I was so upset that they could even suggest something like that.

I wrote this in the `DirtyBox':

"first all of you people here are sick. And just because you don't like me is no reason for you to suggest something like that. Saying that is just as sad as spreading the rumor in the first place. You really need to grow up. It really is sad that the people at this site would spread a rumor without doing a background check, find out it's not true, and instead of blaming yourselves for being gullibe you start throwing out names to falsely point blame on someone else. That's sad. The people at LD now know that it started on Backstreet.net and then DLS. Now they know that you guys like to blame innocent people just cuz you have some sort of sick vendetta against them. Once again, Missy you really need to group up. And you've proven your immaturity by adding a 'lol' at the end of your accusation. That's sad and I feel sorry for you."

I was so mad. For those of you who know me, I don't even go the Backstreet.net's Backboard. I wasn't even aware that there was such a thing. I always spend my time in the Guestbook. Then Lucifer started a thread at LD in my defense. ChrisCrazy came over to LD and said that it was me who started the rumor (I swear, he's such an idiot; he's a 17 year old who thinks he knows everything). Then he tried to suggest that me and Lucifer are the same person just because he has the IP address to our computer (I thought to myself not only is he stupid, but he's really stupid).

But (and this doesn't surprise me), the moderators at LD took Chris's side and believed all the lies he typed up in the thread. So they banned our IP address based on a lie. Me and my roommate were so mad.

Then Chris Crazy posted this in the `DirtyBox':

"elgato, here is the email that I just received from LiveDaily after filing a complaint about your attack: We already knew he was elgato. We didn't ban him this time because he was never banned. He just did something to his profile that turned his activation off lol. We'll ban him this time, though. He was close to being banned under his original name, so hey, why not lol. LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE BANNED BUDDY! You're too damn obvious fool... you are DAMN pathetic. Oh, and your claim at LiveDaily that 'Lucifer' was elgato's friend... lmao, we all know that elgato HAS NO FUCKIN friends.... buh bye. Feel free to respond... it'll be your last cuz you will be banned a little later... from the site completely. lmao."

He is sick, arrogant, sick, ignorant, sick, immature, and sick. And I think it was wrong for the LD people to ban Lucifer without giving an explanation.

Now the people at DLS are trying to call me a hacker. What the hell? Here's what they put in the infamous `DirtyBox':

"Remember he said 'you're the god of computers and IP's'? something like that? lol he probably has two comps at his house and writes from them. LOL! just to let you know. maybe he's a hacker. watch out."

I would've have just called the DLS people stupid for calling me a `hacker,' but I gotta admit that it is damn funny. If I was a hacker and good with computers, why would I be asking you guys what HTML code is? Why would I ask the Popdirt people how to make links? Why would I ask the Popdirt people what an IP address is? Why would I ask the LD people how to make the message text bold? Hacker, me? That's stupid and funny. Stupid funny.

One of my Popdirt friends stuck up for me in the `DirtyBox'.

ChrisCrazy responded to him saying this:

"Cham, the only thing I'll never be able to take away from elgato is that he's a good writer... he's awesome. What he wrote on the DirtyBox was awesome, but ti was a total lie... a sad lie actually. He was on LiveDaily pretending to be someone else, 'lucifer', and he was telling everyone there that DLS started the rumor. After informing the mods there that I was certain it was elgato, they wrote me back minutes later saying it was him and that he'd be banned. Sad thing is, after I said it was him over there, he continued to pretend that he was someone else... and he kept complimenting elgato while being this other person... he's a great writer but he's an even better liar. It's sad that he would attack a fellow fansite like that. I haven't done anything to harm his new site, I actually encouraged him to go make one."

The most ignorant thing about this comment is that he's saying HE IS SURE THAT I STARTED THE RUMOR. What a liar. I WANT TO SEE THE PROOF. He is so arrogant that he can't accept the facts that 1) He is not God, therefore he is not omniscient, and 2) He honestly doesn't know who started the rumor. No one does. I'd like to know myself. I'd rip that person apart for messing with the Carters.

And once again, he's calling me and my roommate the same person just because we share a computer, meaning both our thoughts will be linked back to the same IP address. I think that in this last statement, he is saying with confidence that I started the Leslie rumor. That is just sad. First, I would never do anything like that. I would never say something bad about BSB or people linked to them. I always defend Leighanne, Sarah, Aaron, Kristin, Leslie, and Pollyanna. I always inform BSB fans of whatever new news I have dealing with BSB. ChrisCrazy is crazy He has som serious issues. Second, how insecure is he to feel the need to tell one of my friends that if he was a true BSB fan that he would support DLS? What an idiot. THIRD, he didn't encourage me to start a site. My Popdirt friends and my roommate did.

I wouldn't be surprised if a DLS person started this whole thing. We know they like their publicity stunts. I mean, the "DLS Exclusive Shout Remix." Chris probably made that in his basement, and used it to get hits.

Anywayz, there's no point in reasoning with the DLS `DirtyBox' people. I am convinced they are a cult.

Conclusion

So that is what happened. With all these rumors going around about me, I felt the need to tell my side (the truth) and defend myself (against the lies). I'm over it now. If the LD mods wanna believe that BS and take it out on me and my roommate, then it's their loss. My main concern now is to keep building up this group and give you guys access to all things BSB.
