Pumpkin Wank!
Recently, the Pumpkinheads community on LJ has been gradually exploding into wankery/useless adulation. It starts when Tragicforces posts a link to Billy Corgan.com, where their bald messiah has posted a pretty whiny accusation toward the Pumpkins guitarist, James Iha, stating that he broke up the band. Someone else posts the full text of said message in another thread. People wank. Some threads aren't very wanky, but they might turn wanky, so I'm including them anyway.

Wank 1: Sudden outpourings of hate.
- We shouldn't support the band James recently joined that's been together for years because he is teh evil!
- A Perfect Circle sucks now anyways.
- Screw you, A Perfect Circle is awesome!!!1!1!
- Sad divorce analogies.
- A Perfect Circle doesn't suck, *Zwan* sucks!
- Do not!
- Yeah!
- You're all lame hypocrites. I didn't see you bitching when we all thought *Billy* broke up the band.

Wank 2: Moping and accusations.
- My, that's petty.
- Billy Corgan's a fucking asshole anyway. Bald psycho.
- Billy has crushed all hope from our empty lives. ;_;
- It hurts... oh so very much... *mope*mope*mope*

Wank 3: A Few People Who Actually Make Sense, with a guest appearance by Pseudo-Psychoanalysts.
- Guess what? They broke up. It was 4 years ago. Get over it.
- Word! But my life is a dismal shadow if I don't see the Pumpkins live. Now I'm depressed.
- I feel that I understand Billy's intentions. He just wanted to help.
- He wanted us to know the truth! He's like Mulder, only balder!

Not-So-Wanky Wank 4: More of the above, with less Psychobabble.
- It's all about the music. A song can be like a picture in the way that it captures a moment in time. Aren't I deep and meaningful?
- Yes.
- Billy's still an asshole, though.

Semi-Pending Wank 5: But James is Nice!
- Billy's an evil tyrant and James is much nicer.
- And besides, James never quit like everyone else.
- But... he kinda did. Remember that whole "the band ended because James wanted to quit" part? Guys? Helloooo?

Feel free to use...credit would be nice, but isn't necessary.

Being a Smashing Pumpkins fan, I admit I was saddened by their break up...but not suprised. The band had been having problems for years and in my opinion, I believe they tried to keep it together but just couldn't work out all the issues.

I still love Billy Corgan's music and will always listen to him AND I will NOT stop listening to A Perfect Circle just because James has joined them. Quite frankly, I rather like him as a musician too.

As to who is at fault over the band's break up, if there even is one person at fault, we may never know...then again....the truth may be out there. ;)

	Umm... it doesn't work. I used to be a huge Pumpkins fan too, but I kind of lost interest in them around Machina, so I wasn't really around by the time they broke up. It's too bad, because I hate missing out on a good conspiracy theory. ^_~ (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

I stopped reading Pumpkins communities long before they broke up, because the fans were just too wanky... I don't even have to read your wank summaries to know what's going on. It's kind of sad...

Although I am glad I saw the "he's like Mulder, only balder!" comment. I think that calls for an icon.
