I wonder what set him/her off this time? I truly doubt that kids actually set their standards of behaviour by things that they read on people's LJ's but I wouldn't mind betting that they have a really good laugh though.

It's like some horrible accident you can't look away from. Someone really needs to learn that children are people, not little clay dolls waiting for someone else to stamp their features on.

Y'know, I'm getting bored of fandom screwballs. It was funny in the beginning, but now, it's just trying to recreate its already gone glory days. If those behind f_s were to open comments, I'm sure it'd be fun again.

They lose points big-time for disabling comments. Where's the openness to debate, or if logical, mature debate isn't possible, then at least childish diatribes insulting one's politics, lineage, sexual preference, internet finesse, and stolen user icons?

This would be a hundred times more interesting if f_s would say something like "We hate how all the low-income homosexual pedophiles using ripped-off Orlando Bloom icons write pornographic stories for distribution to nursery schools," and then opened it for comments.

(And all the low-income homosexual pedophiles who distribute slash to three-year-olds would rise with a united, mighty voice, stating with absolute clarity: They make their OWN fucking Orlando Bloom icons, dammit!)

Yes, we must protect the innocent children from demoralizing and desensitizing sexuality. There is nothing more life-scarring for a child, to see two ficticious characters expressing love for one another in a physical (and usually poorly written) way.

(Violence is still okay! *thumbs up*)

Apparently plagiarism is one of those forms of morality that's now considered normal, because this rant is copied almost verbatim from a Family Research Council article by Susan Chamberlain:

While researchers and parents alike acknowledge the dangers of excessive violence and promiscuity on television, few are motivated to change their families' appetites. Immorality is normalized. And adolescents, who are most likely to imitate television's value system, become youth at risk for copy-cat violence, desensitization, exaggerated fears, and false impressions of sexual intimacy, gender, and their place in society.

"Violence and Promiscuity Set the Stage for Television's Moral Collapse" by Susan Chamberlain, http://www.frc.org/get.cfm?i=IS02E4

This strengthens my belief that Fandom_Scruples is a troll, since while these types tend to be dittoheads it is highly unoriginal and lazy to simply copy a quote, substituting "immoral fics" for "television."

youth at risk for copy-cat sexual acts

COPY-CAT sexual acts? What's the world coming to? You can't just copy sex from somewhere, OK, you have to make it up as you go along.

But, you know, one kid is gonna read Weasleycest and then immediate try to nail their siblings. Duh.

We live in a society where stupidity is normalized. But then, I can't expect any of them to understand this? I suppose not.

and by their standards, i should've grown up to be a horrible immoral person with no respect for right and wrong and, were their predictions to come true, would probably be working a corner on 5th street, but...heh. Art school scholarship, yay, where I can write porn that's subsidized by the government!

mm, government subsidized porn.

I find it highly amusing that when you click on their friends link, one of the top messages is an icons post, including one with the text "my fandom is completely obsessed with sex", and in a distinctly non-disgusted way.

hehe, this is too easy

It's got to be a troll, right?

And for the record, when i have kids, i'm gonna re-write the fairytales, so that there are just as many brave knights rescuing other brave knights, and princesses rescuing princesses, as there are knights rescuing princesses.
